It was difficult decision; do you show off the Strike Crusier or units that had changed (Vindicators / Land Raiders / attack bikes / Warhounds etc). Unfortunaletly you cannot show all of it off.
It's also not a change that can be showcased in one game, it only takes effect in a series of games by giving you more start-up options.
a) the new army lists
I should have been more specific- changes to the Codex (Vanilla) Space Marine list. I see the DA/BA/BT as new lists rather than 'changes'.
b) the increase in points for Warhounds (as most Space marine players at tournaments take them ... there too good not to!).
Were Terminators considered for a 25pts hike too?
The drop pod/rhino swap has been in force at UK tournaments since the end of 2007 -when the issue first came up at Britcon and that open war
I think I was getting muddled up with the On Foot/Rhino swop out, that is new right?
My SM list had 2 Dev squads and 1 Tactical that generally flew around in Thunderhawks. There where several occurences where I found it better to deploy them on the board, being able to add Rhinos to them then and there would allow them mobility and more bodies...and I like the Rhino models.
Again, though, your right in that this change can't be shown in one game, as it isn't an action done during a game, but before.

Jeridian,
Umm yep good point; though I could of said in my army list'these Devastators have rhinos' and then in the game deploy them from a Strike Cruser. Though your still right; this is a benefit that is more likely to show in a series of games.
Sorry yep terminators were increased to 350pts
No the foot / rhino swap was in before as well. Yeah I think the ability to move units from air transport (Thunderhawks) to ground transports (Rhinos) is very useful; it is especially useful when your opponent has alot of AA.

There has been a series of debates on the subject of "dropping" transport prior to the game. Typically this is done to permit the formation to garrison or to make use of air Transport. IIRC the official view was that all races could discard units at the start of the game for no penalty, though if that happened during the game they would receive a BM for each unit 'lost' in this way (under 1.7.4)
