That's what I thought at first, but went with the Union in Blue ! :D And the Gettysburg battlefield is only about 5 hours from my home. Never made it there yet ... but plan to !  :D  "SAVE the UNION" !

QUOTE
For those who are unaware, this battle was based on the Battle of Gettysburg

I knew it looked familiar, but I was thinking of the wrong continent.  :D

Yep. I was thinking about Hougoumont :D The Red and Blue was particularly missleading too :)

I have not been there either, but a friend who went many years ago said that the area is extensive, so you need to allow plenty of time, several days if you want to walk the entire battlefield, museums etc.

Perhaps I should entitle the series "Misleading battles" :D  :p  as I intend to post others. Some will be more familiar than others, but all try to present the armchair general with the current realities on the tabletop, hiding the history as best I can, and reducing intelligence to the level of the general on the field rather than the guy in the helecopter (dispite what they say in the E:A Book).

Yes, I've talked to some people who have been there and saw some History Channel shows about the battlefield. As well as the battle ... Certainly would like to spend sometime there ! The last show I saw on it was on the Sci-fi Channel. And they sent some Ghost Hunters there ! I was hoping they would have found Gen. Lee and ask him why he didn't listen to Longstreet !    Been to a number of battlefields when I was in the Army including Petersburg/The Crater ... Missed some that I was near but didn't go ... :(

Cheers for putting that up Gavin; a good write up I would say, I hope people enjoyed it.

I was wondering though if perhaps we should have restricted the air (and teleport) reserves to turn 2, as we did with the ground reserves. Possibly the game would have panned out even more like the real battle?
