Yeah, definitely. And then do another battlereport where I can lose again. :;): Either army sounds great. I need to assemble my titans and do a mailorder to specialist games so I don't have to play the same composition all the time.

And speaking of army building, what's up with the Blood Angels list at specialist games? It looks a bit... rough. Not that I have a problem with using the regular space marines list, since Blood Angels don't really differ from codex chapters too much.

Alternative scenarios would be neat, the tournament scenario is fine and balanced for tournaments I assume, but I remember the epic40k objectives (cleanse, bombard, rescue, take and hold etc.) resulting in more different games. Not that I remember how they worked anymore, since it's been ages since I played it.  :laugh:

Let's just put two objectives close to center (but like 100cm apart) and fight over them - the one who has both after turn 3 wins; ends after turn 5 anyway, possibly to draw.

(it seems typical that 3000 points is actually too few points to control that many objectives that standard tournament has as there is usually like 3-5 activations left at turn 4...)

There are alternate scenarios in the back of the EPIC rulebook.

"Escalating Engagement" and "Breakout" are completely playable with any armies.

Additionally, there are at least two new scenarios in the Fanatic Online archives:

EPIC Assault (Links to .pdf)

EPIC Hit and Run (Links to .pdf)

And then there are two scenarios I did up for the "Red Queen Rising" campaign:

EPIC Recon

EPIC Cleanse

All the scenarios could probably use a little work to clean them up, but they're all playable and make for very different games of EPIC!

Interesting report. Whilst my EC are not ready to field as yet I have been trying out Subjugators with my LatD list. I have had some mixed results but for the cost they are a WE that I think will work well with the list.

Haven't seen the list, aren't they some kind of squats that aren't squats, except they are? I know them from BFG, but they aren't too detailed in that game.

Yeah, the rulebook says it's for 2000-5000 points, so that's a bit on the low end. Never tried a game over 3000 points, so that could be worth a go. I have another company's worth of unassembled marines, so it shouldn't be too difficult to throw together more of them. Not that I fancy the idea of painting even more shoulder pad rims. :;):

That seemed really strange to me though, since Blood Angels aren't supposed to differ from regular space marines. Apart from the obvious death company of course. And veterans being assaulty instead of tacticaly, but veterans don't exist as separate units in the normal space marine list either. Just ignore my rambling, I'm an inflexible fluff-person. :laugh:

While the Blood Angels still largely follow Codex organisation, that's not the same as saying that they follow Codex doctrine or tactics.

Blood Angels are renown for ferocious assaults, indicating quite some differences in tactics - deviation from the Ultramarines in how the organise those Codex units into formations seems reasonable.

Yeah, I'm mostly confuzzled by the lack of tank detachments and the limitation on whirlwinds. But maybe it could be worth a try sometime, since I don't think marines are about tanks anyway.

But has anyone playtest experience with the death company? Tried a forum search and found nothing. They seem a tad expensive for what they do, especially considering one has to take them and they might go firefight a tank company or titan unless handled with care.

Morg fielded them earlier this year in the german tournament, I found them to be quite scary.

Since Morg has fought at least five battles with them, he may have further comments...
