Well I finally got around to placing an order to Forge World for Epic. I've ordered tons of stuff for 40K from FW in the past, but never Epic.

I received my order (minus three items on back-order) today:

When I laid out all of this stuff I was incredibly excited. That is until I realized out of 23 items/packages 12 had components that were broken, missing, or miscast.  :sigh:

I sort of feel a bit gutted to be honest. I mean I know Epic resin is brittle and thin and tricky and all of that, but this is really disheartening.

I wasn't picky when I sorted and inventoried the damaged/missing components. I thought to myself, "if I can fix it, like green stuff a hole that is not ruining detail, I'll do it. If I can re-glue or attach a component that's broken with a clean break, I'll do it."

But all of this is pretty bad.

Unfortunately I cataloged the stuff after FW closed so I couldn't call. And to be honest I'm feeling a bit nervous about it.

When I report on the amount of components that need replacing I feel that I may come across as if I'm trying to cheat or get freebies off of FW.

If any of you have ever had an order as nightmarishly wrong as this I'd really like to hear about it.

Oh yes, on a number occassions ... if you can't call them (Like me I live in the US) ... I literally sent a letter with the a copy of the invoice from online ... It worked and they sent the stuff.  Note, sending them an e-mail ... they won't answer it ...  Good Luck ! :agree:

I had some casting problems with my warhound titans I ordered recently, bad miscast on the carapace of one so I called them up and they replaced the pack without question beyond if it was one or both that was badly cast. I figured I'm paying premium for their stuff, I want it to be in good condition.

I have no problem calling them, and I live in the US. I'm just not looking forward to it. It all sounds a bit dodgy you know? That much stuff has problems?!

I don't want to look like I'm trying to hustle them or something.

Odd thing though, I got a free (well actually they replaced one of my Phoenix Bomber sets for it) Tau Tigershark.

Maybe I'll get rid of it on the trader forum when all of this stuff is sorted.

Was it their left shoulder where the trim is" looks like a mound of resin just "glopped" on it?

That's what happened to both of my Warhounds today.

They obviously regard replacing broken orders less effort than packaging properly!

Ring them up, explain the exact number broken/miscast and they should send it out to you. I don't think I've yet had a FW order that was perfect, but I've never, ever had a problem getting the replacements ASAP. And then you've got your order plus a whole heap of broken components for your bits box - bonus!

I wouldn't worry about sounding dodgy. Indeed, you should work yourself up - you paid for their stuff, it's broken, what are they going to do about it!?

Take pictures and offer to email them when you call. FW is too expensive to 'get by' with damaged or miscast stuff.

Yes, but I don't believe that is a miscast, I think that is just where the pour slot in the mold is. I had it on the original and the replacement. The miscast though was on the hood of one of the carapaces where the resin didn't fill the mold properly.

Twelve oout of twenty-three? Damn, that's pretty feeble. Out of interest, did those Wave Serpents come with the right weapons?

Wow, much worse than my average experience with FW epic stuff.

In cases where there are extra 'blobs' of resin on multiple models in the same place, that indicates a mold tear-out.

And don't be nervous at all, they're good blokes at FW and used to dealing with such issues, they should set you up right quickly!

Some things are just too fragile to be worth trying to get them right.

I got replacement anti air tanks for Eldar and all the weapons were snapped on them as well.  After that I ended up just making my own weapons from metal so they wouldn't snap during play.

This is the sort of reason I'm not bothering with FW anymore. I too would feel awkward about having to say so much of the order was rubbish, but if that is the case then that is the case.

Yes ring em up, send pictures if you want.

Yes the weapons were right, though two of the star cannon weapons were missing from the package.

Yeah the Firestorms were all in pretty bad shape. I got two packs and 6 out of 6 of the weapons were buggered.

If I didn't have such a love for Eldar and an intense hatred for the look of the SG version of their tanks I wouldn't bother.

Most of the Imperial stuff is ok. The guns on my T-hawk wings were both snapped though. The T-hawk Transporter (using as a landing craft) was fine except for one snapped landing gear that I can fix.

I have to tell you guys that it is a thing of beauty and I can't wait to paint it and post it up here.

I've decided to stay up until 3am my time (9am GMT) to call FW. I'll let you guys know what they have to say.
