Hi!
Thank you for the response!
The attractiveness of this line over sabol are the aluminum cases. As having move many times, I really need something that has a hard outer shell. I could not tell you how much time and grief that would have saved me over the years.
I like the half trays for infantry and was thinking of one of those 1200 just for infantry, since 2400 (approximate) stand capacity should hopefully accommodate all the infantry I have.
A second one for the rest.
What would you use for titans and such really big figs?
Also, what if I wanted an empty 1200 and put sabol trays in it? You think they'd fit?

I'm happy to help where I can

For titans and big stuff i'd go, and probably will some day, for the J1H series pick and pluck. It is 108mm deep, which should accomodate most of them standing. I haven't considered what to use for the imperator, though.
What you have to realize for kr trays is that they have a second coding besides the series letter (which refers to compartment width and length). The numbers represent hpw many such trays will stack up to fill a card case. 1 means one single tray will fill it up, 2 means 2 trays stack up, and so forth. For standing warlord and reaver sized titans I'd use the 1 trays and for scout titans maybe the 2 trays would suffice. The 2 trays would probably be enough if the titans were laying down. The 3 trays may be good enough for squat war machines and ordinatii, but I can't be sure yet.
In regards to whether the sabol trays fit the 1200case, i really have no idea, as i've never seen a sabol case or their trays, but kr aluminum cases are designed to be filled up with the card cases with the foam inside them (almost like a russian doll), so I can try and take the measurements for a card case and for the trays themselves, when I get home. Can't get the numbers to you before tomorrow, though. Either way, when you buy an aluminum case or one of their bags, they automatically fill it up with card cases and foam to your specifications.
I haven't noticed a price difference between full and half trays though. I usually opt for a bespoke case and its usually 32.99€ using core trays, which is what I buy. I think you're mistaking 1/2 trays for 1/2 card cases, which is not what I'm advocating, Blip - I buy full card cases and fill them up with 1/2 trays, which costs the same as filling the, up with full trays.
With the inventory coming to an end and gearing up to finish and repaint everything the storage issue for me is top priority now. I cannot afford to use my old "tackle boxes" to stack well painted minis anymore.
For me at this point the KR aluminum cases are front runner. Its all a matter of what trays to get. I find the price including shipping quite good for what you get (somewhere around 450 dollars).
I like that the trays can accommodate 2 square infantry bases in one slot, looks they will be safe that way.
Thank you for taking the time for measurements and such, since it will be key for my decisions on tray size.
