Strategy Roll: Tyranids
The Hive Ship appears overhead. The Orbital Barrage lands smack-dab in the middle of the X-shaped ruin, slagging 5 Guardsmen and an Ogryn unit. And then the Spore Pods begin to fall?
The Harassment Swarm lands on Tyranid Objective 1, the leader beast of the attack securing itself behind the forest.
Assault Group 1 lands at the T-junction road amid all the ruined buildings.
Assault Group 2 lands right in the X-shaped ruin, placing another Blast marker on the Infantry Company.
Assault Group 3 attempts to land right in the middle of the heart of the Imperial forces, but is forced far to the forward edge of the Imperial deployment and splashes against the Infantry Company, killing 1 Guardsman, and the Sentinels, placing a Blast marker.
The Attack Group lands right in the ruined T-shaped building and lumbers into position.
Assault Swarm 1 hesitates, but the Harridan impels them to engage the Infantry Company which counter-charges into Assault Swarm 3.
It's a brutal fight that lasts two rounds; the forest cover helps the Guard, but not enough as they lose 1 Sniper, 1 Hydra, and 3 Guardsmen and they are pushed back despite killing 3 Raveners and 2 Termagants. The Imperial flee into the swamp while the Tyranids consolidate their position.
Rough Rider 1 sounds the charge to engage Assault Swarm 3? but they lose 2 units to broken limbs before they get there! The survivors kill 2 Hormagaunts and 2 Termagants, but 3 more Rough Riders are killed? but they still manage to win by "1", the Commissar still breaking, the last Imperial survivor of the charge. The Tyranids just reposition themselves?
The advance, holding position, but popping up to catch Assault Swarm 1 in a crossfire with the Sentinels and 2 Tyranid Warriors are mowed down.
The Attack Swarm surges out of cover to engage the Vultures and their sparse firefight ability still manages to wipe out all four VTOLs with no Tyranid casualties!
Assault Swarm 2 sustains fire on the Reg HQ, killing 1 Guardsman.
Rough Rider 2 engages Assault Swarm 3, loses 1 unit of Riders to terrain and another to enemy action? the three Tyranid Warriors survive, but are sent packing, heading towards the Harridan and the Guardsmen are victorious!
After being harassed a lot, the Warriors of Assault Swarm 3 engage the intermingled Sentinels and broken Infantry Co? miraculously for the Guardsmen they suffer no loses and manage to drop a Tyranid Warrior! The two survivors seek the comfort of their mom and hide behind cover? some might even say cowering!
The Regimental HQ sustains fire on Assault Swarm 1, wiping it out completely.
The Harassment Group tries to advance, but the death of so many Synapse creatures has befuddled it and it only moves forward.
The Thunderbolts zip in to strafe Assault Swarm 3, but it is ineffective. On their departure, the Harridan sacrifices a Gargoyle to place a Blast marker on the aircraft.
The Storm Troopers mount up and double on Assault Swarm 3 and their Plasma Guns wipe out the 2 remaining Tyranid Warriors.
The Mech Company settles in and goes on overwatch?

The Attack Group uses 2 Mycetic Spores to spawn 8 Hormagants!
The Harassment Group uses 2 Spores to reclaim 5 Gargoyles!
Nothing else spawns.
All Imperial formations successfully rally.
