Hi folks,
I would be grateful for your thoughts on the impact of BMs during drawn combats. We had a situation last night where the first round of combat was drawn, with my formation taking two casualties. As per the rules, a second round of combat was then fought with the result again very close.
At this point we tried to decide whether the casualties I took in the first round of combat produced any BMs which would need to be taken into account when working out the result of the second round.
There are various points in the rulebook that might be relevant but the one para which seemed to cover this is the 'Important Note' in Para 1.12.5. This confirms that "Kills inflicted in an assault do not count for placing Blast Markers ... until after the result of the combat has been worked out".
When it says "..the result of the combat..", is it referring to :
a. The result of each individual round of combat; or b. The eventual result of the combat (regardless of how many rounds this takes to decide who wins) ?
In the end, we decided that it was probably (b) but rolled for it. Thankfully, the gods of justice were with me and (b) won, sending enemy Tyranids scuttling for cover in a tizz...
Grateful for your thoughts.
Thank you,
Phil

Thanks Rastamann,
Much appreciated. It felt as though that was the intention of the rule but sometimes it can be difficult to sort these things out in the heat of a game when both players want a particular result. Thankfully, our gaming group can usually rise above this.
Cheers,
Phil
