Hi,

So my formation of ork speed freaks gets shot at and loses two trukks, leaving 2 ork boyz without transport. Let's say I want to double the unit 70cm to grab and objective. Which of these is correct?
(1) the ork boys slow the rest of the formation down. The rest of the unit may move 70cm, but must keep at least one unit with 5cm coherency with the ork boyz.
(2) As per the coherency rules "if for any reason a unit is left out of coherency" I can leave the boyz behind, they die and I pick up 2 blast markers.
(3) I leave the boyz behind, they die and I pick up no blast markers. (I've seen people play this but could not find it in the rules. Can anyone provide a reference?)

Played all 3 of these depending on opponent. Anyone know which is right? Thanks.

1 and 2 are correct. You either do #1 or you pickup the BM and units are lost.

you should be playing no. 2 unless you string out the whole formation to keep coherency (as in no.1 ).
Quote:
1.7.4 Formations
Any units that are out of formation for any reason after a formation has taken the movement part of its action are destroyed. The controlling player may choose which units are ‘out of formation’ and destroyed. Note that each unit lost will place one Blast marker on the main part of the formation. This applies after each individual move, so if a formation made a march action, you can’t wait until the end of all three moves in order to bring units back into formation – any out of formation units are destroyed at the end of the first move (and again at the end of the second and third moves if any other units have also ended up out of formation following the move).
