Has this ever been FAQ'ed?

Yes, absolutely, a formation or single unit can claim multiple objectives.

A common tactic when taking a powerful single unit e.g. a Great Gargant is to place your two objectives 30cm apart from each other (possibly in a triangle each 30cm from the enemy blitz too). That way the titan can claim or contest 2-3 objectives at once.

Agreed it is a standard tactic. I think this was discussed many years ago on the SG forum, though I cannot find the threads. There are no FAQ notes.

I guess a FAQ wouldn't hurt but I would imagine most people realise it from reading the rules. They just say you capture/contest an objective if you have a unit within 15cm. No mention is made of being limited to only capturing one with a unit or formation and it's the sort of thing you would expect to be explicitly stated if it were intended.
