Reading through a Kroot list proposed by Apologist in the Tau Forum
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=25148I saw several units with the Disrupt characteristic on small arms (FF only) weapons.
I'd never before associated these ideas before, so my question is this:
Do Disrupt and Ignore Cover abilities apply to hits inflicted during an assault?
Should you apply BMs on units on a winning side who were hit by a Disrupt weapons but survived their armour save?
Would infantry in cover not get a cover save if hit by an ignore cover weapon?
Quote:
1.12.1 . . . Each player allocates the hits and make saving throws in the same manner as they would when allocating hits from shooting.
Now I'm thinking that if there is a ranged weapon with these stats then that is what the unit uses for FF and hence the specialist weapons characteristic applies to hits from that unit.
OK, since Tau currently interest me, would:
Fire Warriors with Disrupt attacks at 15 cm with their Pulse Carbines also have Disrupt on the FF to hit roll?
Broadside Suits have a 30 cm Ignore Cover weapon. Should this ability apply to the FF hits?
Would Mega-Weapon apply in the same way? So would a Crisis Suit with 15 cm MW4+ also have an implied (15 cm small arms) MW attack?
Some other observations:
I know that I have never done this when using Wraithguard but they, interestingly, have a double entry for their wraithcannon, 15 cm 2 x MW5+ and (15 cm) small arms, EA+1, MW. This says to me that the 15 cm MW attack for shooting does not apply to the FF value since that is just an "ordinary" small arms stat but with an extra MW attack; but it is explicitly stated.
In contrast the Space Marines Land Speeder has 15 cm MW5+ and (15 cm) small arms, MW which implies a MW effect on the first FF. Fire Dragons I now notice also have a similar stat-line, 15 cm MW5+ and (15 cm) small arms, MW.
Some specialist weapons abilities obviously apply in assaults: First Strike and Extra Attacks, sometimes Titan Killer.
OK, enough rambling. Is there somewhere clear in the rules/FAQs that addresses this?
