Hi guys,
Can someone please talk me through the rules regarding the 'recycling' of a unit to allow it to both air assault and be extracted in the same turn - if it's possible?
A recent game I had against an opponent had dual Thunderhawks attempting to air assault with the first, and then pick up the termies and extract them later in the turn with the second.
First time either of us had come across it, and we weren't sure how it worked.
Cheers

Loaded thunderhawk lands, drops off marines who engage, and win the assault, then empty thawk lands on final activation of turn, 'sucks up' marines within 5cm, then flies off at the end of the turn.....

The point is that a WE transport may only embark or disembark in an activation, but not both (unlike transports attached to a formation). So the first transport activation disembarks troops for an assault, the second embarks the troops and then waits for the end of the turn to disengage.
Another (harder) alternative is to use a second ground formation, which activates after the ground assault completes and moves to the transport, embarking as part of the move.
