Can someone refresh my memory. Is the Handbook 2008 version of the rules just the GW E:A rules with the errata and FAQs added?

Nope. The Handbook 2008 was an integration of all of the proposals that were put to GW in 2008 for the rules review. 90% got rejected, so it's an out of date document.

The version of the rulebook currently on the GW website integrates all of the 2008 rules review Errata and FAQ's.

For army lists, the lists developed online by the NetERC (successor to the old ERC with most of the same Army Champions) can be found here:
viewtopic.php?f=69&t=22113

Whilst the UK tournament organisers have written some army lists for use in their tournaments, which you may enjoy using alternately:

Do you know when the Epic Compendium 2.0 was printed/published?

The current Q&A is dated as last been updated on the 23/9/2010 I am wondering if 2.0 was before or after then.

This is why it can get confusing, there is no master thread detailing what is actually the most up to date ruleset inclusive of Q&A. There are some great efforts going into things like compendium 2.0 but they all need to be put into relative terms to all other documentation and Q&A.

I suggested in another thread that if EC 2.0 is inclusive of those Q&A, shouldnt they be archived to avoid confusion? (if EC2.0 is a concise and up to date version of the rules) or partially archived if 2.0 isnt fully up to date. If 2.0 isnt a concise and up to date version of the rules then a statement should be made aknowledging it for what it is and commenting that it is out of date to avoid confusion.

I have printed and have been using EC2.0 and I dont know 100% if it is the current ruleset, I hope it is but I really dont 100% now if it is :o

Anyways just a thought to try and simplify things for people :)

The current core rule set is the rulebook available for download from the GW website: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... Id=4900003

Any other core rule set downloadable is a project by an individual and is not supported by the NetERC or any tournament organisation.

The current Armies Compendium is this one, published January 2012 : viewtopic.php?f=69&t=22113

Any other previously published armies compendium is out of date.

The "Epic Compendium 2.0" falls foul of both of those. It is not a recognized rule set by any group, and it does not contain the current versions of the armies within it.

Excellent thanks.

Any change of putting that statement at the top of the Q&A thread?

I expect the ERC will be putting up a central website soon.

Reading pdfs and printed out copies gets tiring after a while and I'm thinking of buying the rulebook from GW.

Does any of you gents know if the rule book GW have for sale is the updated version? I mean is it printed with the 2009 changes or are they from an older print?

I don't want to buy if it's old then I'll just print the pdf version in a printshop.

cheers!
