I'm considering heading to Oz a for a year or two working holiday this Autumn and am curious whereabouts you epic players might be there as to possibly getting some games in? I'll be in flying in to Melbourne and cycling up at least as far as Brisbane and I may travel further afield .

Also - the heat, how is that with models? Plastic and resin models in particular? I think I remember hearing of some chap having to keep his W40k Reaver Titan in the fridge or something crazy and I wouldn't want my precious forgeworld and forum models to melt or deform.

Cycling from Melbourne to Brisbane now thats ambituous !! Its a two hour flight. Distances are far greater than many expect. The highway is full of hills and not in great condition in certain sections. Hotest months are november to january. Its the humidity rather than the heat in Brisbane that people find a surprise. Models are fine in a house but dont leave plastic ones in a car thats in the sun all day.

If in Summer, the heat can be 'burning' however this year was pretty good. Unless you are leaving you models in the car and leaving that in the sun, then I do not really see a problem with minis melting.

As for whereabouts, Melbourne appears to have 3 main areas of gaming for Epic. It is best you sign up to http://www.wargamerau.com and we have a thread there on where everyone is sitauted and what armies they have.

Huzzah! I may be cycling for weeks on end with my models in my luggage but I have never learnt to drive so my models should be safe.

The Air Asia flight I'm looking at would land in Melbourne so that could be perfect for some games early before I go off exploring.

I've had a quick look at the au forum though I'll hold fire for the moment till things are more settled. Thanks!

If you make it over to Perth, look me up mate (Perth is about as far away from Melbourne as London is from Moscow though ).

yeah, major clusters of players are in melbourne and perth
there are also, to my memory, smaller groups in sydney, brisbane and a few others scattered around. i'm in canberra myself, which is sorta on the way.

All the 'War Without End' campaign games you've been hearing about and the soon coming 'Only War' Epic tournament are in Perth, Western Australia.

Epic is getting big here. It's soon going to be 7mm, easily.

Will do, if I make it over that side. It looks a bit far to cycle though. I googled and found the below and now realise Oz is a twice or more as big as I'd roughly thought The little wet 278 square mile island I live on is just a tiny speck on there, smaller than your cities or towns.
