Hello all. i'm new. I am mad for Epic figs, Dark Realm and fantasy/historical 6MM.
I am open to game systems. Not curently in a club, trying to get a painted army together out of my many projects. I have kinda returned to the hobby after a few years out.

I Wonder if anyone can help me? i am well interested in some Death Korps tanks I saw on a sculpters website. I also saw some battle Sisters in 6mm! Are these availible someplace?

Any help appreciated.

Warm Wargamey love going out to you all...

Hi and welcome!

If you're interested in the Death Korps, you might enjoy looking at Epic: Siege, a fan-made gaming supplement focused on the Death Korps of Krieg, which I organised.

Here's the low resolution B&W preview copy: http://www.epic.host56.com/files/EpicSi ... -v1.16.zip (you may have to resume the download a few times, unreliable server).

There's a nice couple of pictures of scratchbuilt Macharius tanks in there, and also some scratchbuilt Gorgons.
Plus there's loads of artwork by community artists, some painting and modelling guides, basically most of what's needed for you to be able to make your own Death Korps army (As it notes in the supplement, you'll have to scratchbuild the rest).

The final high quality colour version should be going up soon, which'll also have some new photos in it and some typo corrections.

-----

There's a strong scratchbuilding / rules writing community here on Taccomms, which is inevitable as Epic has basically been abandoned by GW and many of the models they're currently selling are of awful quality (I can make a better looking Leman Russ than the terrible quality GW one or even the higher quality FW one, for example) and some other guys have dabbled in home-casting their own models (I'm helping my brother cast up some of his scratchbuilt Sisters, coincidentally enough), and have shared a few models with each other from time to time, but I doubt you'll be able to buy what you're looking for.

Exodus Wars or DRM (which you've already discovered) might have some good proxies for you though.

Thanks. thanks for the link, my work PC says it is corrupted! If i was in the right place with something to trade, is there a possibility of trading for some sisters? By the way, how carefull do you need to be using GW trade mark names etc, are they watching us!! this is the reason for my paranoid subject title!! how much GW and FW bashing is seemly?

cheers

As I said, poor server, try resuming a few times.

You'll have to ask my brother (Zombocom) that question.
But I doubt it.

Probably.

I've tried repeatedly to sell my own (and others') scratchbuilds to GW, and tried once to buy a licence to support Epic (Got shot down instantly by the legal dept.), so I can't imagine them being ignorant of this community.

I suspect there are bigger fish to fry, however, like the eBay recasters or the producers of 40k-sized tanks with silly names, instead of a few mates scratchbuilding together (and indeed, trying to sell those scratchbuilds to GW!).

I'm just being honest. There's some good, and some bad.

The game system's brilliant, and some of the models are exceptional, but some of them are upwards of 20 years old and are in dire need of replacement, and the last attempt at Epic rules from FW (In IA:3) were clearly written by someone who doesn't actually play the game.

Because I'm a relentless pimp, here's my hobby blog: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18010&start=15

Check out those Marines and tell me GW's plastics aren't in need of an update!

I'll see if I can post a side-by-side of a FW Leman Russ Thunderer and one of my own later, too, if you're interested.

Leman Russ comparision would be nice, thanks. I meant how much can i moan about FW and not get shot down for being an anoying hump! anyway, scratch building and converting is the best bit. There are some german greatcoats with resperators couming up for release on Scotia Grendel in a month or two. I know what i'll be using them for! Looking for the next thing to proxy or convert is great fun, how i love the internet at lunch time.
I'll try and finish my 10mm WW1 Mother thank/land rader redeamer conversion and post a pic. some of those 10mm french and british tanks from 1918-1935 ish are great for IG armour. give the cash to the little companies I say. Epic scale tanks are oftain too small/ not realy to scale anyway. example the Termites! or even the old landraider. after armour and engine, there is clearley no room for 10 Terminators. hence the 10mm conversion.

Okeydoke I'll take some pics later.

*shrug*

I consider myself a complete and total GW "fanboi", but that doesn't mean I can't spot poor quality goods and services when I see them.

Try a little moan, if you're curious, and see what gets said in response. I'm kinda curious to hear what you say actually.

I suspect you'll find most current Epic fans hold similar opinions to my own... they love the Epic hobby because it scratches a totally different (and less teenager-intended) itch than GW's 3 main games, and just wish they could buy loads of new Epic models from GW or FW.

We don't call GW the "Evil Empire" here, at any rate. Absentee parent sitting dead on his throne, letting his once-great realm slide into entropy and oblivion, perhaps.

I haven't seen those (no pictures on the website).

I own a 40k scale Elysian Drop Troops army... so I believe in supporting quality (Well okay, some of my Elysians did come from a lucky eBay purchase), rather than just "the little guy". If the little guy also happened to make the best quality models, I'd probably buy from him instead.

GW or FW haven't had a great ammount from me lately for the Epic lines, as I can simply make better models than their current ranges in a lot of cases (I'm not great on biological infantry... yet, and a lot of FW's 6mm models are good or exceptionally good).

Agreed on the scale thing.
Whenver I scratchbuild a version of a 40k model, I buy the 40k tank (or Titan) first and measure it, so I know it's the proper size.

Do things awesomely, or not at all, is ... well it's not my motto, but it could be!

Here 'ya go.

I painted them both using the exact same simple painting technique (Paint grey, Drybrush lighter grey, paint metal, Wash).

Don't think I've posted this online before, will crosspost to my Hobby Blog.

-----

Having measured the 40k model, I can also say that the FW Thunderer is ~15% too narrow overall.
