At EPIC UK we are working our way through the various Epic races one at a time (over 6 month periods) updating the existing lists for more balanced tournament play and producing extra variant lists of the respective races. So far Space Marines (updated Codex Marines and White Scars and new Black Templars, Blood Angels and Dark Angels) and Orks (updated Orks, Speed Freeks and Feral Orks) have been completed with Imperial Guard following at the end of December.

Being a small organisation we can only develop and test a small number of variants in each 6 month period whilst maintaining the standard of list and level of testing required. Marines, for example, are now covered for 4 variant Chapters and those covered by Codex organisation but there are many more Chapters that could be developed. Given our schedule there will be no more Marine lists until 2012 at the earliest though.

Therefore we would like to ask if anybody wants to fill any of these gaps? If you have a list, or want to develop a list, for a race we have already covered then contact us on armylists @ epic-uk.co.uk

What Ork Lists do you have?

I'd also be intrested in LAtD, but I'd assume they'll follow IG

Do the lists have to be an official list (as in Salamanders/Cadian/Alaitoc etc.) or can they be just based on a theme or style of play (Marine Ground Pounders etc.).

Do the lists have to be an official list (as in Salamanders/Cadian/Alaitoc etc.) or can they be just based on a theme or style of play (Marine Ground Pounders etc.).

You could easily do the latter by asking a fluff nerd to do the former for you, and then slapping the name he gives you on your themed list.

For example, 'Ground-based Marine force' could easily be 'Aurora Chapter'* or 'Imperial Fists'**.

* A Marine army known to field more tanks than is usual for Marines, more than any other Chapter apparently.
** A Marine army known to engage in siege / siegebreaking type warfare.

And I assume they want playtested ones not brainstorming :)

Jeridian's Hive fleet Churonix list is pretty good.

I'll have a word and see if he'll forward it to you.

No offence intended to Jeriden but I'd much, much rather see the official Net-EA tyranid list looked at for this than Jeridan's list, it's extensively played and tested by a much larger pool of people.

Personally I'd be really keen to see the Death Korps of Krieg, as they're very significantly different from either Barran Siegers or vanilla Guard.

I've got experience playing against Net-EA tyranids and using DK myself and both lists seem good.

At the moment we're only looking for variants of the races that we have already produced lists for - Marines+Orks (and in a couple of months when the IG lists have settled in then IG).

Lists in any stage are fine if you've got an idea which you want to develop that fine - we'll assist you in developing it from the start, if you have a developed list that could be used or adapted and used that fine also

The problem with the NET EC list though is that it's bobbins.  Because it's been done by commitee over such a long period of time, there's so much detritus from previous versions of the list that really just needs to be gotten rid of but wont because of vested interest of the people involved and the amount of work put into previous lists.

Nid and Tau development is so much like the evolution of DNA for want of a better analogy.  It's functional but full of junk and would be much better if taken right back to the drawing board.

I agree that a free for all should be avoided however.  I only mention this particular list because i have been involved in the playtesting of it and find it to be pretty good and balanced.

Apologies however for not reading the initial brief properly and throwing it into the ring.

I don't think that's a fair assessment of the list, the tyranids seem well done and being well tested by a lot of people over time is a positive thing.

Regardless, since Epic-UK seem to be only after variant lists its moot for the moment anyway, so, in the cause of keeping this thread on track, lets leave discussion of other lists aside and concentrate on discussing variant lists for the core armies.

Clearly I have a bone in the Tau development, but I'd like to note that the main driving aim behind my proposals for where to take the Tau list was a twin strike that was meant to;

A = Weed out much of the problems left over from past development (the junk DNA you refer to)
AND
B = Make the Tau list look and behave more like a Tau army, rather than a collection of units that often look like a Tau army, but actually behave like something very different.

I think both objectives have largely been achieved. I only (strongly, it must be said) disagree with a couple of aspects of the V6 list at this point. Barring those problems I think the NetEA Tau list is now in a better situation than it ever has been before.

/END OT

I think pretty much any of the NetEA lists will fit this bill, which makes me think you are looking for something different than that.  Can you provide more details on what the plan is?
