Hey all!

Here's another teaser from my work-in-progress scenario and campaign supplement, "EPIC: Total War".

This details two types of planetary conditions that could have significant effects on the battlefield. Take a look, let me know what you think, and feel free to contribute ideas!

Those are interesting and I can see myself enjoying them occasionally, it does feel a bit odd that, say Guard and Marines, would be affected in the same way though, it would become extremely difficult to integrate that without totally distroying balance so I'll have to live with it.

Looking good Chroma!

Space Marines isn't effected at all Justinel. The power suit is also an environmental suit.

Zero-G and Vacuum, Chroma?

Power suited troops are: Chaos/Space Marines, Aspect Warriors, Ork Nobles, Tau and ...?

Looks interesting. I'll try talk my opponent into trying some of this in our next game. (Doubtless he'll be marines, so he should like the dangerous atmosphere).

Interesting. FWIW, this is starting to sound like an old space exploration game called Legio VII (Seventh Legion) published in 1982 and expanded by Tablin in 1983.

The game is controlled by an umpire, while the players explore the galaxy encountering different worlds and races. The aim is to find and retrieve rare minerals etc gaining points that can be used to get bigger ships etc.

I knew you were going to work on a scenario supplement but I didn't know it would be as detailed as atmospheric conditions!

Although cool (and original to me) I would like to see more traditional scenarios. Something one could point to and say "let's play that".

One of the things that frustrated me with some scenario supplements were the historic re-fights that could only pit a specific army against another specific army.

I know when you generalize them and make them available to all armies it loses some of its flavor, but maybe some work could be done to help tailor other forces to be substituted for those given in the scenario.

If asked I'd have to say that I'd like to see some work done in that sort of direction.

Although cool (and original to me) I would like to see more traditional scenarios. Something one could point to and say "let's play that".

Currently, "EPIC: Total War" has about 20 different "generic army"/traditional scenarios that are being worked on... These are not "historic refights", and most will be easily used with "pick up" games, while others will require semi-tailored armies to be most playable.  Most will allow two players to have brought 3000 point armies, say, and decide upon meeting "Let's play a 'Rescue' scenario instead of the Tournament scenario!", as an example.  Some are "mirrored conditions", while others are "opposed conditions" for winning, but all are different ways of playing the game.

The "Planetary Conditions", amongst other things, are modifiers/additions that can be applied to the base scenarios to have rules for almost any conceivable battlefield... to allow a *broad* range of both interesting scenarios and unique campaign play. Many of the scenarios will have a "core setup" and then "tiers" of difficulty... similar to the "Alpha", "Beta", and "Omega" levels of play in the old 40k missions.

It ain't just fighting in a vacuum!  *laugh*

That was exactly my point, using the generic conditions Marines will suffer the same as Guard.
However having thought about it a little more I can reason that that is where the Marines better stats come from, so I'm happy again.

But they won't, at least not in the dangerous atmosphere (armour 4+ ignores the disrupt effect).

Also remember that this is a work-in-progress, not a "finished" document...

Awesome

I have a friend doing his own up, so I showed him all of yours and he loves them. He wants to use them in our games and is also using them all for inspiration. Hence, he wanted this one as well.

Cheers....

How small arms works in high gravity? Range is 0cm.

Like assault weapons but using fire fight value?

Thanks for you interest, [b]jasca[/b[, and welcome to the boards.

If you read the "fine print" in the high gravity section, that point is addresed: Weapons suffer a -15cm penalty to range, maintaining a minimum range of 15cm...

So you can still use your firefight weapons normally!

Hoping to get some updates posted soon.
