It seems GW might be about to do something everyone must have thought of at some point - make limited runs of in demand old models.

Well, would Epic count? And what about those unreleased chaos sculpts?...

How much you're willing to bet epic won't count? They say there's no moulds for any unreleased models or something. Grumble grumble. Afterall something as smart as selling customers what they want to buy is something they don't do.

Or maybe we'll get classic epic rhino's. Only 20£ for one! Get them while they last!

I think the line 'As long as the mould exists' will preclude most epic stuff as we have been told many times that they no longer exist.

The losing the moulds thing is rubbish. Even if they did a lot of the masters are held by the sculptors.

A lot of EPIC masters were destroyed/discarded as well... it was a very "odd" time at GW.

I remember years back Jervis said he's like to see some of the old funky super-heavies (Leviathan, Ordanti, Colossus ... ) released as collector's pieces.

I'm hopeful that this could be good news for Epic sooner rather than later, as I'm pretty sure there are some moulds in existence which would be really popular, that have never really been used.

Well I know one sculptor has everything he did.

Also I suspect we can provide masters and moulds if nessecery :)

Hell why not just let one of these epic frothers make them in a spin off company (oh well, maybe when I have the CEO in a headlock).

Even if those models were overpriced... I bet you wouldn't have to pay as much for a sprue of 'Nids as you currently have to on eBay. Now if only the old  Tyranids looked like Tyranids ;)

Yeah. Like 50$ for 2 sprues? WTF? You got to be kidding me! Are they made out of platinum or what?-)

If this "cast on demand"-style service does come to pass, I *HIGHLY* doubt they'll be re-doing plastic models... it's a completely different process from spin-casting old metal.

A quick glance at ebay shows that there is a market for older models, especially considering the price some go for. GW could make a nice bit of cash. It always struck me as slightly mad to completely end the ability to order older miniatures. Granted, some would not be worth recomissioning.

What's this cast on demand you speak of?
