I am doing the final preparations for my SM army. I have quite a few of the old bikes, and I just wonder whether the new bikes are worth it. So, basically, I have two questions:

Does the blister really contain 12 bikes and an attack bike? That would kind of s**k.

Are the models good enough to be worth investing in?

12 bikes (three different sculpts, repeated 4 times each) and one attack bike, along with (IIRC) 6x Warmaster bases.

I think they're worth it.

Definitely better than the plastik "fishes".

I think GW's sculptors had been watching too much Akira when they made the plastic bikes.

Thanks. That was the answers I was looking for (although my wallet begs to disagree).

On a side note, can you watch too much Akira?

When Space Marines quite randomly start riding Akira style bikes, despite the 'boxy' looking bike design already existing, too much Tetsuooooooooooh! has been imbibed. :))

I like them and think them much better than the plastic ones. Apologises for the crap pictures from years ago when I didn't know what I was doing (I'd take better ones and could later if you like, but I'm not home), but see here:

One good trick with them is to file down the wheels a little on an angle on some of them and to not glue them all equally going straight ahead, but rather have some veering and turning - looks much more dynamic.

Speaking of bikes, do people commonly mount three on the base? Having two per base (or an attack bike) for a full 10 man mounted assault squad in a formation makes gobs of sense to me (and matches with the speeder formation).

Personally yes, but then I like the look of having lots of models of a base and go for what I think looks aesthetically best and right for particular models and units - hence I base Khorne Minotaurs 4 to a base, Slaanesh Fiends 3 to a base, Plaguebearers 7 to a base and things like that.

I love the flexibility the EpicA basing rules give you over the aesthetics of numbers and bases size/shape :)
