Right folks. I know the Squats/Demiurgs are loved/adored here in their many incarnations. I'm cool with that (even if I think it's misguided)! There's alot of downright excellent work went on in the many lists, and many of you are here that worked on them, hopefully reading this request/post/rambling...

Anyway. As you may, or may not, be aware, I'm also an avid Demiurg fan. But of a different kind. A kind where they don't have beards, axes, STC tech as their mainstream, human blood and DNA, a grudge for everyone and a streak of rampant dwarfishness about them. I prefer mine from a 'alien' line. With alien thoughts and unknowable feelings. They don't tend to fight in Epic Battles (unless against Orks or Tyranids who're disturbing their work) and have distinct disposition to not forming into a battle line and saying "By the blood of my ancestors, you shall not pass". They'd have their automatons do that, their robots and androids and drones and mechanoids. Their mining constructs and their housecleaning Kry-T0N robots doing the fighting, and their main objective being something quite unmentioned across most of their history. They're a wise-gifted and ancient race. To me, anyway.

However, my purpose here isn't to convince you lot of which one's better (or to have you convince me I'm wasting my time!), but to ask for a bit of help.

As you may, or again may not, know I long ago proposed that (IMO) the best way for the Tau to get access to a neat titan-analogue was to simply have it as one of their auxilliaries: A Demiurg Titan that is quite often hired out to the Tau.

Now, I'm not pushing this idea from a Tau perspective, but from a Demiurg one. My provisional thinking is this:

Machination
- A big stompy titan (not necesserilly humanoid). Look through my Demiurg work in the GothiComms thread or the end of this: http://savefile.com/downloa....1335f6d
document to give you an idea of the look I'm using as a bit of a basis for the idea, though ideally with a touch more gothic-steampunk-come-war-of-the-worlds about it.
- Probably about 8 Damage points, maybe more, maybe less.
- Combination of both Imperial Void Shields and a Tau Deflector Shield.
- Short Ranged 'Cutting Beam' style weapon, an immensely powerful but short ranged thing
- Cargo Capacity to transport a coupole of 'smaller' Demiurg units(not really relevent at the moment)
- A few nice longer ranged things too, but nothing too much, just bits and bobs.
- Thematically it's 'actually' a kind of torpedo that's shot out from a Demiurg spaceship. In reality it's the Demiurg way of deploying titans. So every time you get hit by a Demiurg torp in BFG, one of these could have just landed on the side of your Cruiser!
- They have 'jet/booster/anti-grav/something' power enough to do a high tech take-off / landing thing to get on and off planets, but otherwise are slow hulking behemoths more suited to a bit of 'smashing up the crust of a planet' than 'smashing up the cream of an opposing army'

So, what I want from you lot is to help me with both Stats and Points for this!

My current stats-thinking of it are attached, so please let rip!

Sorry - are you making a suggestion to add to the current work in progress that is the Demiurg List?

(and to epilgrim, I promise to give the new list a go soon - other things just keep getting in the way)

Because they already have a vast array of war engine options... I can't quite see what it is you want to add to the list? Or is this just a senario based idea.

He's proposing this as a theoretical auxillary for the Tau, in absentia of the Squat era Background (Official Demiurg fluff is pretty close to nill).

As I said: But of a different kind. A kind where they don't have beards, axes, STC tech as their mainstream, human blood and DNA, a grudge for everyone and a streak of rampant dwarfishness about them. I prefer mine from a 'alien' line. With alien thoughts and unknowable feelings.

It's a different thing altogether, as E&C says: These are Demiurg, and not Squats. And whilst it's a very impressive and respectable set epilgrim has put up, I do draw the line at calling the little buggers Demiurg...they're Squats (or latterly Varingr) to me.

Any thoughts given what's laid out so far?

If you can't get Squats ... try Exodus War's Khazari !  :D
