I am after a little help as I work through the initial process of weapon stats for my Chaos Titan Legion list. I am looking at the tails and what sort of stats to give them. There are five tails from the old eras of Epic that can be found out there.
Fisrtly is the Banelord tail, no challenge just add the stats from CSM list
Secondly there is Chaos Titan Tail One, fitted with a very large chain blade. Should I count this as an additional chainfist and give it the same stats or try something new?
Thirdly Chaos Titan Tail Two, fitted with a wrecker, count it as another wrecker?
Fourth, Chaos Titan Tail Three, fitted with a weapon mounted inside a skull, I am looking down the lines of a reduced value Banelord Tail.
Fifth on the list is Chaos Titan Tail Four, which features a skull at the mount end with a long tail with a large barb at the end. For this I was looking to at extra CC attacks maybe +2.

I was looking towards a cost based system. You dont have to take a tail, but if you do it should cost you to balance out that your titan has more weapons than your oponents so you can take less to account for the ability. Once the list is complete I will playtest extensively to see how it goes.

I would make the Tails half as effective as if it where a titan arm/carapace weapon.

Make the tails an additional number of CC or FF attacks, keep it short and simple. ?If you restrict your thinking along the lines of the 4 tails that used to be available you are going to punish those who don't have the tails due to lack of availability and those who kit-bashed tails onto their Chaos titans, either out of need or for aesthetic reasons.
You can either up the cost of the titan accordingly or impose a penalty of some kind for the use of the tail.

I'd just apply an extra cost as I did with the modular-costed Imperial titans.
