This was my first biggish game versus my bro's Ultramarines. I've been building up my Siegenasters for a while and since converting up my support weapons they've increased up to 1500pts. We've play three or four games at 1125pts to get the hang of the rules.

Anyway, on with the battle report!!! Dang these things take a while to type out.:D

Siegemasters - 1500pts

Regimental HQ         150
+ThuddGuns x2        150
+Fortifications          100

Ragnoraks               300
Siegfrieds               150

Infantry Company     125
+Rapiers                  75

Bombards                250
StormHammer         200

Ultramarines - 1500pts

Tactical Detachment                               300
Tactical Detachment +3 Razorbacks          375
Devestator Detachment                          250
Assault Detachment                               175
LandRaider Detachment                          400

We both had Blitzkrieg Objectives to capture in eachother's deployments zones. The Ultramarines had a downed Thunderhawk to capture and my Siegemasters had a research facility to capture.

I deployed my Regimetal HQ in fortifications on my left flank, just shy of the objective. My other Infantry Comp was deployed on the right in ruins, ready to advance and take the hill (101) immediately to their front. I deployed my Bombards at the rear on the big hill, as well as my Siegfrieds, Ragnoraks and StormHammer.

The Ultramarines had their two Tactical Detachments, both mounted up in Rhinos, spread across their deployment zone, with the assault marines in the centre, next to the Devestator Detachment. The Land Raiders started guarding my Blitzkrieg Objective.

Turn One.
The Ultramarines advanced into some minor ruins taking their objective, a downed Thunderhawk with a Tactical Detachment.
My Ragnoraks moved up behind the fortified position of the Regimental HQ, then the Siegfrieds doubled up beside them on the left. This position would be very hard to crack if there were to be any assaults. (As commented by my bro.)
The Assault Marines jumped onto the hill in front of the Regimetal HQ, taking cover amongst the trees.
My Infantry Company marched forwards and took Hill 101.
LandRaiders moved foward, taking up a central position within the Ultramarine's half of the board.
My StormHammer moved up behind the Infantry Company to support them.
There was no CC and no firing at all, all our formations were basically getting into position.

Turn two.
The Assault Marines jumped into my deployment zone to take the Blitz objective, hoping to hold on to it with grim determination.
My StormHammer turned and blew some holes in their cover, killing one stand. Then my Siegfrieds doubled round beside the Assault Marines and shot another stand down, breaking the formation.
The Tactical Detachment holding the Thunderhawk objective tidied up their lines, hunkering down into the cover.
My Ragnoraks advanced behind the Infantry Company on Hill 101, ready to support any assaults.
The Ultramarine Land Raiders sped over to my left flank, staying just out of sight behind the hill.
My Bombards then sent a few heavy shells whistling over the battlefield, blowing a few stands up of the Tactical Detachment holding the downed Thunderhawk.
My Infantry Company on Hill 101 took out a few units of the Razorback-equipped Tactical Detachment to their immediate front. The Regimental HQ also sent in a few Thudd shells which killed a few Tactical Marines.
The Assault Marines rallied in the end phase.

Turn Three.
The newly-rallied Assault Marines wanted to redeme themselves after legging it under the previous turn's heavy fire and therefore assaulted my StormHammer. Although both stands hit, they failed to cause any damage and in the end they died under the heavy-supporting fire of the nearby Ragnoraks.
The Ultramarine LandRaiders doubled round my Regimental HQ and took some shots at the reloading Bombards, but failed to cause any damage. Seeing the threat the Land Raiders posed, my Ragnoraks doubled back, crested the hill just to the rear of the Regimental HQ and took out two of the Ultramaine AFVs.
The StormHammer moved forward to support Infantry Company holding Hill 101.
The Devestator Detachment doubled to Hill 101 and unloading their missile launchers, killed a stand of the Infantry Company. They then leant FF when the hopelessly outnumbered Razorback Tactical Detachment assaulted. My Storm Hammer provided FF.
The assault resulted in a couple of my Infantry Company dead, and lotsa dead Rhinos, Razorkbacks and Marines, but there were still a few units in the retreating Ultramarine formations.
At this point I realised that the game would be a draw unless I could grab another point. I HAD to kill the Land Raiders to claim the BTS. The only formation I had left was my Regimetal HQ; they engaged the Land Raiders in a FF, killing one and running down the other due to combat res. Also, with the destrution of the Land Raiders I could claim They Shall Not Pass.

Ultras conceded the game.

We both enjoyed this game very much. Although I think the reason for the Ultramarine's defeat was more down to REALLY bad dice rolls than anything else. What he did shoot at either missed or I was really jammy with my saves.

The Ultramarine force was seriously mauled, whereas my Siegemasters pretty much lost only three stands of Infantry.

Cheers KiLLerLooP, if anything I'd like to get another three boards to make a 3x3 battlefield. I think its a bit too small, I reckon 2700 might be a bit of a squeeze.

Any ideas how my bro's Ultramarines could have done better - other than better dice rolls!?

I'm reckoning a Warhound Titan and some better co-ordinated assaults might be what was needed.

General recomendation on batreps,

Its always helpful to have a force list from each side with units and points.

Just makes review a bit easier.

Very nice gaming table and fully painted models! Love to see people playing this game for more than ruleslawyering and stress testing! Looks like you enjoy a great gaming atmosphere!

Regards to helping the marines, they are a strike force in the strict sense of it. I've seen them work with drop pods, thunderhawks, lots of tactical squads, and Imperial Landers toting predators for FF supports. Bikes tend to be very good in the marine army if you can steer clear of all of the buildings too. Warhounds are very worth their points but I'd avoid the more expensive titans. I'd field a minimum of two of them if I was going to field any at all. I'm also a firm believer of at least 1 formation of fighters.

Good luck, and keep the bat reps coming!

Cheers Tactica, I thought about that after I'd posted it all!

Oh well, I shall edit it accordingly! :D

The gaming atmosphere was fine and dandy, I just wish I could fit more gaming into my life.

Cheers Primarch,

The terrain boards are from Warscape. I'll post a link to their site when I get home tonight.

Nice gaming board and thanks for the Batrep and the pics.

I would have ditched the Land Raiders and taken either Terminators or a Thunderhawk. Always works great against Imperial Guard (never played against Baran, but I think they are somewhat similar?). The Land Raiders aren't a great choice as they are currently overpriced.
