Hello, just played my first EA game and it was great. One thing that came up (in my mind) was, when one skimmer formation attacks another, which side gets to decide whether the combat for base-to-base stands is a firefight or a close combat.

We played that the attacker chose, but the more I think about it, the more I think that it should always be close combat, if either side chooses that option.

I can live with it either way. Just curious. Thanks.

I think both sides would have to agree to CC otherwise they could dodge forever whilst straffing.

What TRC said.   It's a veto kind of situation. If either skimmer chooses to FF, it's FF.

The other skimmer cannot negate that choice as the assault turns into a "skimmer dogfight" and still uses FF values.

As a way of reducing bookkeeping, it occurred to me that a nice way of representing this would be to push back the skimmer so that it's no longer in base contact.
