Has anyone tried using 5cm as the range for CC rather than B2B in an effort to make CC less laughable?

How about other house/scenario rules?

I recall once running artillery and airfields as on table assets but way back using a smaller table and saying it was 50cm from the edge of the main table to each player's backline.

How is CC laughable?

Compared to FF it is.

I often play whole games with no CC attacks at all, its generally very easy to avoid B2B contact.

Even ground pounding infantry in the form of orks can get into cc, especially when you consider this is an objective based game. But yes FF is a universal value, stuff like skimmers can really mess up a CC formation.

I don't think 5cm "range" for CC would change much except extending the charge range by 5cm.  It might make CC slightly more common, but what makes FF considerably better is supporting other assaults rather than the direct engage.  5cm CC range wouldn't change that.

As far as other stuff, we've done all sorts of house rules in scenarios, from odd deployments and movement to stats for fortresses to low-orbit spacecraft providing massive AA capabilities.
