Howdy y'all. ?Now that the Raiders supplement has become a reality there is some increased chatter on making even more supplements. ?Obviously the Epic community is not interested in waiting for GW to print a new one and the most recent company changes indicate that -despite the fact that models may continue to flow- the rulebooks won't.

I was hoping to get some discussion moving on what supplements might be in our future. ?Raiders has paved the way in a sense and given us an opportunity to do bigger and better things. ?While I have no intention of leading all of these potential projects, I can and will help as much as possible.

The Next Supplement
Chroma is obviously working on the mega-project Black Crusade but I honestly think that will be a big project that will take over a year. ?There is no reason why multiple supplements cannot be developed coterminously. The big question in everyone's mind I think is what lists are going into the supplement. ?

And the Next One
I honestly think the Tau should be on the list of things to start soon. ?So, determining what army lists will go along with it and who will head that project will be important to hammer out now. ?This is just my opinion.
EDIT: Of course the fact that FW produces a publication about the Tau may give the GW Legal Department some concern (competing with their existing product).  I don't know.

Smaller Supplements
Not every supplement need be giant publications. ?E&C already made the Mossino Campaign. ?Neal was toying with a Space Wolves idea. ?Of course it wouldn't take much of a bump to turn a mini-supplement into a Swordwind sized one. ?

Things to Consider
When I decided to print Raiders I opened up a membership with Mills Press. ?The cost was $297 for 1 book for 1 year, or $397 for 5 books for 5 years. ?I chose the latter of the two and that membership is built into the cost of the supplement. ?That means any subsequent publications will not have that upfront cost, allowing it to be printed for less and potentially allowing for more money to be donated to charity as well. ?But five years will go by quickly and plans need to be made NOW so we can maximize those dollars.

How can you help?
1. Buy a copy of Raiders. ?I know, I am selfish. ?But this also helps cover the cost of that membership and will make future supplements IN PRINT a reality. ?Also bear in mind that unless I reach 100 sold, the American Cancer Society will owe me money. :p

2. Playtest and post battle reports. ?IMO this is the single most effective way to develop the lists out there. ?

3. Take good, hi quality pictures of your models, your works-in-progress, and your games. ?Keep them forever and don't reduce them in size. ?You never know when that picture might be needed to fill a spot in a supplement. ?Raiders suffered from a very bad harddrive crash and a lack of Dark Eldar and Necron models to photograph (not to mention a suprisingly small number of IG tank variants). ?The result was that many pictures came out not-so-good. ?

So, what do y'all think?

The Next Supplement

I want to do something with the AMTL & Skitarii versus the Tyranids (Dependent on movement on the Nid list's special rules).

Size-wise it'll probably be closer to Swordwind than Raiders. (There's a lot of oppertunity for conversion / scratchbuilding guides, and the story needn't be as short as the one in Mossino).

Smaller Supplements
Not every supplement need be giant publications.  E&C already made the Mossino Campaign.  Neal was toying with a Space Wolves idea.  Of course it wouldn't take much of a bump to turn a mini-supplement into a Swordwind sized one.

I had been wondering about giving Mossino a decent front cover, replacing the last few GW photos, and getting a small print run done... I don't know if people would be interested in it like they have been in Raiders though.

I think it's a fantastic idea - and all credit to you! I don't think any of us would even be thinking in terms of print publications without your incredible work on Raiders.

As for what I'd like to see, a supplement with AMTL, OGBM, and a section of optional rules for more detailed Titan games would be a dream come true.

But an Eastern fringe campaign, say with Marines, Tau and Tyranids would be a logical step.

Oh, and once again: Congrats on Raiders! You're an inspiration.

Regards,
Reaver

So i it not worth approaching GW via the contacts that we have here to request permission to base supplements on existing GW litterature. It would appear that there is plenty of good basis for us to work with out there. FW Imperial Armour books all give good background to campaigns and individual units to assist in this process. You are not working to make a profit, with the sales going to charity, so it may appeal to them to assist in raising funds.

I am with Reaver though, an Eastern finge campaign, Tau, Nids, but which Marines do you want to put in there? Hena's Scions, the Salamanders or something new to the pot?

I think that if you want to introduce the OBGM, that using the Armageddon books would be a good start, add in the Black Templars, OBGM, and AMTL, and maybe through Spead Freaks it as well.

Well I am happy to contribute with photos and how to do pictures along the way.

Cheers
Aaron

As a crazy, off-the-wall thought, would there be any mileage in the Demiurg??

Salamanders and the Ork equivalent of the Siegemasters (because Salamanders where famous during the 3rd War for Armageddon for boarding Ork Rokk Fortresses on the planets surface) would be a cool idea. As further army/armies perhabs Black Templars, OGBM, Armageddon Ork Hunters, Savlar Chem-Dogs and/or my Armageddon Steel Legion PDF?

I would like to re-visit some of the Armageddon forces that didn't receive lists yet as BL mentioned. Perhaps a book collecting the history of the first and second Ork invasions.

Why not pin the supplements to an existing "official" list. So perhaps AMTL versus OGBM and Orks?

I think that there may be more success getting other gamers to buy the expansions if they aren't totally new lists and that there are perhaps articles and content for the official lists in combination with the new army lists.

My feeling is that the 'big machines' lists shouldn't be marginalised in their own suppliment... I feel that it lends the titan lists an air of acceptability if they are arrayed against 'normal' armies in their suppliments, instead of against each other (Which perhaps has an air of 'these lists are only partially balanced for mainstream play, but work well against each other...).

That's one of the reasons Mossino had an only very slightly tweaked Siegemasters army list included.

My intention is to at some point turn the 3 Inquisition lists into a supplement, possibly with some variant lists for other armies also included. I've been toying with splitting them up and including them in other lists, but the problem is simply that they're so big with so many new datafaxes that they will dominate any supplement. The daemonhunters might fit with the Black Crusade, but they're just not a small list that could be included.

The Daemonhunters could fit well with the Red Corsairs mind you, as the red corsairs is a variant list that only has ten or so datafaxes.
