I need some help, as i am just startin an epic IG army, but idont know wot to put into a 2700 point list  can u please help me, as i want to buy some minis fast, and start modeling but i oni want to buy wot i am gna use!!!!!

Start with a a regimental command company, a tank company and an artillery company then get formations to suit.
Getting an infantry upgrade for the tank company is always an idea, just make sure they have chimeras to mobilise them!
A couple of hydras, definately one with the artillery, a SH tank always goes down a treat, if you have points to spare another IG inf company for garrisoning or even storm troopers in valkries would be useful.

Theres a bit about this in the April White Dwarf magazine.
As noted on this board (somewhere), buying models from Forge World can work out cheaper.
I'm going to get a couple of boxes of infantry, 7 Chimeras, a Leman Russ company & an artillery company from GW and my Baneblades and shadowswords from Forge World.

thanks but is there no need for flak, because i have read many posts of people who use lots of hydras??
neways, its more toward a 2000pt list im lookin, cos 2 of my m8s r startin the otha armies (SM + ork) and we have decided to jus get 2000pt armies to begin wi, soanymore help??
and thanks ill have a look on forgeworld!

I'm not sure about Artillery Companies, they seem like a lot of points for something that is very vulnerable to being taken out by air assaults, bombers or even normal formations. If you spend more defending it from air/ground attacks then it ends up costing a lot more then the already costly 650.
After playing against IG in my first game last night I would probably go for something like this: (baring in mind I have only had one game and that was me playing Orks  )

It can be useful to look at what you want to build towards, so when buying for a smaller army you don't end up with formations you don't want in a larger one.

Hiya
I'd definately drop the hydra from the infantry company as it won't last 5 minutes being the in vehicle in the formation. The army also seems a little more assault orientated than I would play certainly.
The tank and HQ companies should be made mandatory. Their invaluable. Infantry is always good and your not playing imperial guard if you don't have any artillery.
