Was thinking about Chaos during lunch today (and, I mean, who doesn't?!) and I whipped the following together.

A "Daemon World" army list with non-summoned Daemons and other nastiness.  Obviously it's just a rough draft so far, but please take a look and let me know what you think!

I'm still trying to think up formations for the "Support Packs" section, and haven't detailed "Daemonic Cavalry" yet... mounted Daemonettes should *probably* be different from Juggers... *laugh*

Anyway, I'd appreciate any comments at all!

Updated army list here.

First comments:

- I like it!

- If you want to follow the Daemonic Codex for 40k, I think you should probably take out *all* non-Daemonic units (Ie: Chaos Space Marines, mutants). The impression I've had is that the codex will be 100% Daemons / Daemon Princes.

- I don't think Plague Zombies will be in the 40k Codex either.

- I think some of the Daemon Engines could still fit the list, as long as their origin is assumed to be completely Daemonic (Ala Juggernaughts, which are constructed by Khorne, despite having a semi-mechanical appearance).

All of the above is contingent upon:

a- whether you want to follow 40k's lead.

b- whether I'm correct as to what's in the Daemonic Codex.

I like the idea.

Now from a financial point of view I bought 3 of the chaos boxes. Basing my deamonettes 3 to a base has only given me 10 bases! Were am I supposed to get the other 2 from  :p

Yeah, I may tweak those numbers... and you *can* throw some Daemonic Beasts in there as well... *laugh*  I may not have worded that as well as I could.

Well, it's not supposed to specifically be a "Daemon only" army list, just Daemon-focused. ?I would believe that a Daemon World incursion would, potentially, include semi-mortal followers like Mutants and Chaos Marines.

The list can be "fully daemonic" if desired, but I feel the scope of EPIC allows for more room for options that 40k does.

I look forward to more input!

Looks fun.  Just throwing some ideas out:

If you're going to do a Daemon world army, you might as well include all the appendix daemons.  Maybe you intend that, but it isn't clear.  Having formations of mounted daemonettes and other fast attack stuff would give the list more flexibility.

Greater Daemons are not worth 300 points.  It takes 225 points to summon one in the BL list and slightly less than that in the L&D list (or slightly more with an altar for a better chance of summoning).  While a summoned daemon has potential instability issues, those summoning upgrades come with other benefits as well (invulnerable saves, leader, extra attacks, etc.), not to mention the benefits of a unit like a Chaos Altar.  I'd try something in the 200 point range to start or a bit higher if that makes you nervous.

I think I'd change the mortal followers to something like "daemonic thralls," maybe using something like the plague zombie stats, but mutants will work as well.  Possibly use possessed humans in some way as well.  In any case, I agree with E&C in that I think the mortal character of the list should be minimized but I don't necessarily think it should be eliminated wholesale as long as the mortals are sufficiently daemonized.

It might also be fun to make some faction-specific formations.  You could use the sacred numbers for them, e.g. 14 Plaguebearers with a Plague Tower for transport.

A look in the DaemonWorld army of the 2ndEdition Chaos Codex would be handy :)

Though knowing GW's practices, the new will have nothing in common with the old... except names... *laugh*

What are the Sacred Numbers again?

Does the World Eater's list have stats for Juggers?  Gotta track that down.

Sacred Numbers...

Slaanesh - 6
Nurgle - 7
Khorne - 8
Tzeentch - 9

I use Warmaster Daemons for my Daemon minis in Epic. This list should allow you to play a game of Epic without any Epic minis!

This may not be very well received, but I'd like to see the mortal followers as savage barbarians.  Something like Chaos Marauders from Fantasy Battles.  I think the Exodus Wars Centurians would fit this roll perfectly.

I think the "Mutants" and "Big Mutants" can represent a wide variety of mortal/semi-mortal followers, be they possessed, barbarians, or warped individuals.

I do like the idea of axe-wielding maniacs running around with Daemons!  *laugh*

I have had a flash of Conan the Barbarian charging against a space marine

"For Khromne!"  :D
