Quote (PitFiend @ 25 2005 June,12:47) | Quote (CyberShadow @ 25 2005 June,11:54) | things like the Tyranids, which look entirely different will just be re-released and not updated. I guess that the logic is that you know what they are, even if they dont look like the 40K ones, so there should be no confusion during the game.# |
There's also the concept of the evolution of the bugs that they've run with a little in 40k, where the swarms from different hives look different and have evolved to deal with their opponents, and thus the different evolutions of the models are all good to use. | Correct.
Remember also that the new 40k bug line has a retro look, so only the epic warrriors look potentially 'out of place' now (unless like me you really like them and have over twenty of them in a 40k army as well)! The new warriors just look like 'Aliens' to me... one of the reasons the new tyrant sculpt has gone back to being tyranid rather than an 'Alien Queen' I think.
Anyway, the whole mixing of bug edition types is supported in 40k, (I have old warriors, tyrants, Lictors, biovores, stealers(metal)) and new termis, hormis, gargoyles, and 3rd edition carnis. I tried to build my army to pretty much match the epic range
