How did you find the WEs as far as their point cost?
What were the Doomwings used as?

Nice one.
What caught my eye was intitiating a firefightht with the Deathweels.
Against Eldar. Infantry.
Wouldn?t hosing them down with the Reapers and Battlecannon have been a smarter move? That way you wouldn?t have lost the shields and most certainly done a lot of damage to the enemy

In other responses: the Doomwings were swiftdeath fighters. I feared eldar Aircraft and was prepared to use both the helltalons and the swiftdeaths as interceptors.
The Deathwheels didn't impress this time but I blame myself for that. In hindsight, the 8 x 3+ CC attacks were not as good as the shooting alone would have been, I was caught up in the moment. Sigh, another "lesson learned". You guys need a head-banging emoticon here. I would say the Deathwheels are priced accordingly after the 4 games I've used them.
Finally, this was the return match. The first 4000 pts game ended in a tie and the Bat Rep is here: http://ninveah.blogspot.com/2005/07/bat ... ne-30.html
However, we are doing a mini-tourny on August 7th in the Ottawa Battle Bunker so I'm going to be looking for revenge there.
Cheers!

Hah hah! We should take an afternoon to take our next step in our little one-offs... Say 5,000pts this time? Then you could feild one of your oh-so-gross titans and see how we can fair against each other.

The Dark Reaper Aspects opened up on the Chosen Terminators in cover and managed 4 hits. With my 4+ reinforced armour, I failed three of them. ARRRGGG!!!! The lone terminator fled like a coward.
|
That certainly stings...and no doubt they wont be very "chosen" anymore by their patrons either!
My flyers were ok, but losing that first Helltalon really stunk. Two Helltalons are deadly beyond words, one Helltalon is simply an annoyance. I guess I should have been more cautious and protect them for when I needed them later on. |
Interesting comment. I havent yet fielded my helltalons. Can you expand on this a little more?

Well, I can tell you that I fear them as a regular opponent of the Black Legion list. As Bill said, one of their own with a BP of 2 is nothing much, but 2 with BP4 plus all of the other weaponry makes it a pretty nasty threat. They have really crummy armor (5+) which makes them easy to kill, but then they are the cheapest bombers that I can think of with BP weaponry.

Indeed. In my handful of games I found that the helltalons can be a devastating artillery attack on enemy formations when I get the full 4BP, ignore cover salvo. I took out an entire clustered marine tactical formation with 3 rhinos once, albeit some luck was involved. With the havoc launchers and twin lascannon backing up the bombs, my opponents fear the damage the flyers can do. I take them for intimidation as much as anything else in larger games, although I do look forward to when I get all four flying in the future. Muhahahah!
PLus, the models from Forge World are just amazing, both the epic and 40K scales.
