Wow! Qite a difference in scale, you are right guys. So maybe it would be better to search for 10 mm minis for the tanks then,. Looks like the GW ones are too big to represent them with 6mm realistic models....

Well, you have been a bummer indeed But that is not a biggie. I have not ordered them yet. I simply have to find a company that makes slightly larger tanks, so that the GW (rather bad) proportions hold. This, or ordering infantry and other armour from smaller scales as well.
The Abrahams (sp?) looks good enough in scale, but the problem happens with the chimera there: it is too big when compared to transports from other companies, and looks huge when compared to the abrahams I suppose.
Regards,
Xavi

1) Does my whole army match? If you do not try to mix GW with other "scales" of minis, it is not so bad.
2) Once I field the army, will it matter? By this I mean, I do not look at the size differance between my IG and the Bugs for example. Or my own Eldar even. If your whole army flows, it should be OK.
3) How big of a hurry am I in to get everything I want? If you want GW and keep an eye on ebay there are deals to be had. I just won an auction that had 10 Leman Russ tanks, three IG Fighters, an Ordinatus Armageddon, some Titans (half missing weapons, a broken imperator titan, and a small mix of "broken stuff" for under $50.
If you have the time, you can buy GW on ebay for less.
Just some thoughts.

Although you may not be impressed with the Tau, some of the Stealth Suit models are exactly what you are describing. In fact, I may save some money and use them myself.
Cheers.

I'm currently looking at using Warmachine warjacks as alternate titans. While they would not match anything current, the Epic: Armageddon rules are suitable for home-brew rules.
I figure the light warjacks would make good non-scout Warhounds and the heavy warjacks would make good Warlord size titans, with double-sized weapons.

To address the original topic of this thread: I seem to remember a mech called the Quickdraw (might be imagining it) with gun style weapons, but it was more pistol like. Apparently the protomechs should be carrying weapons in a gun style but they're probably more dreadnought size. If you need Battletech stuff in the UK try www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk They're the manufacturer and sell just about anything BT, with some other stuff too.

Hi Blaarg
I think the look of the Warmachine Jacks and Epic Titans are very different so you can't mix & match- all of one or other.
I recently succumbed after staring at the Privateer Press website for last couple of years and bought some Khador & Cygnar figures.
One of my other favourite games is also Mechwarrior. I am not sure what a psychologist would say but I just love games featuring giant Jacks/Titans/Mechs. ?
Cheers
James

James | Wargame Insomniac,
Yes, the Warmachine warjacks and the Epic titans do have a significantly different "feel" to them and they would look rather different. But, the warjacks are roughly the right size and, you have to admit, damn cool looking. Whether you can mix or match them is dependent upon your tolerance for disparate design styles within an army, your painting skill, and what you are looking to do.
But what it really boils down to is this: brand new GW Warlord titan = $40 while a heavy warjack = $20-$25. Are you willing to do a little kitbashing to save $15-$20 on a heavy titan? What about a brand new Warhound for $20, compared to a light warjack that costs $13?
The original post of this thread was asking about alternate Warhounds. Warhounds have 2 weapons, light warjacks (typically) have 2 weapons. Warhounds and light warjacks are pretty close in size. Light warjacks are 2/3 the cost of warhounds.
Less than a year ago I first came across some Warmachine stuff painted up and on display in a local hobby shop. I looked at it and thought that it would make good material for replacement titans. So I did some scouting around and found a couple of guys willing to trade their Warmachine stuff for 2nd ed. WH40K Eldar. Lo' and behold my endeavor to get a couple of funky looking titans became an immersion into a new game due to some awesome trades. Oh, what have I done?!?
And just like you WI, I play Epic with lots of titans, Classic Battletech, and now Warmachine. Giant walking war engine fetish? I don't know what you are talking about doctor...
