Welcome, Invemaster. Nice to see another veteran player joining the ranks.

Don't worry about your English; it's fine. :)

Thank you all, people.
Call them Squats!
Call them Demiurgs!
To me are just great space dwarves!!!!
Hope to help make them "official" return in GW (at least as soon as my hairs became white).

Sorry, as of late real life has intruded on my time (Mostly Work and Honey Do's), and I haven't had the time to check the boards.

Welcome all

Quote Ivenmaster
Thorgrim & Khazak are in their final versions with the 5.1 or they are still "work in progress"?
End Quote

Thurgrim's Stronghold is completed and finished to our way of thinking, but one never knows if tweeking will be needed  ?Gharmull, and Khazak are a work in progress, but I am getting close to a new update for them, and a re-write of Thurgrim just to make it clearer and remove some errors.

Quote Ivenmaster
I noticed tha Doom Missiles and Plasma Missiles use the same stats? It's this correct? Also, in the SM/TL era those were "ONE SHOT WEAPONS", why not now? I also noticed that the Leviathan lost his 4 Void Shields, right?
End Quote

Hey that's three questions in one

Yes the same stats for the Doom Missiles and the Plasma Missiles is correct. At first we did try different stats, then tried the same stats, went back to different and then settled on the same as they were easier to balance between the two vehicles. We wanted all the SHTs to cost the same. Consider it a game balancing issue instead of a fluff issue similar to all power weapons being MW even though they have different names.

Missile Single Shot: For the SHTs it would have required the player to keep track of exactly how many missile had been fired, if I remember correctly it was four on the Colossus, so it was either put extra paper work on the player or down grade the stats so they could fire every turn. We picked the latter as being easier and more in line with JJ's KISS philosophy of design.

Lack of Shields: This is in part a design issue with GW, and in part a play balance issue for us. The present stats for the Leviathan in the Epic-A rule book has it with no shields and a DC-4. Also, we wanted the Squat SHTs to be used forward in direct support of the Brotherhoods in battle. So we did design versions that had shields, and versions that didn't have shields but more DC, playtesters by in large preferred the larger DC over the shields as it improved the SHTs support performance.

Quote Hit and Run
Is it correct, that in the "Thurgrim's" List the "Super Heavy Tank Battery" belongs to the Supports -
while in the "Khazak's" and "Gharmul's" List the "Super Heavy Tank Battery" belongs to the Supports WE?
End Quote

Yes, and you are correct this allows Thurgrim's to field them over the 1/3 limit, but restricts Khazak and Gharmul to a 1/3.
All of this was done for reasons of fluff.

Thurgrim's list is supposed to be what the average Squat Stronghold Army would look like, and as SHTs are the backbone of that army they are not heavily restricted, though you must still get Brotherhoods first. Basically it is the only 'Tanks' they can get (But they are pretty mean tanks  ), and fullfill a critical role in the army. In playtesting it worked well, even when players went SHT heavy, stuck in a Land Train, and some Goliath Mega-Cannons!

Khazak and Gharmul represent 'other then normal' Strongholds that depend more on something other then the SHTs for their main battle weapon, either through tactical belief, or iniability to produce them in large enough numbers. So they are restricted to create a different feel by forcing the focus onto something else, this is another of JJs design philosphies I happen to agree with.

On the table we have plans for a Squat Stronhold built around artillery as it's main focus, and then another who's main focus is SHTs.

and sorry for so many English text errors (I learned some English stuff at school here in Italy
End QUote

I didn't notice an accent, looks fine to me

Odd nobody has ever mentioned my Na York accent on the web either, even though I do wahs my ca' in da' p'rk in Jersay

Thanks for the input

Jaldon :wow:

Another little question about models (I've already converted a couple of Thunder Battle Cars...) What about Spartans, Gorgons and Strikers? I know Gorgons existed a few years ago, so I'll only need to search the 'bay for them, but what about the other two? I think I'll convert a little a bunch of Razorbacks to have my Spartans, but I've no idea as to what I should use for the Strikers. After reading the fluff the first idea that jumped in my head was about "Dwarves&Land Raiders" :o0 ... Am I so horribly wrong or not? What do you use as Strikers?

Cheers, Icon.

Spartans, Razorbacks work good, put some card on their sides for extra armor, sorta like what the Germans stuck on the side of PzIIIs and PzIVs in WWII should give you a good idea what to make them look like. Myself I used Rhinos, stuck the armor plates on the side and added a turret from the real old Ork Battlewagon on the top (My Ork Battlewagonz have been converted to other things so I had a lot of extra turrets)

Strikers=Landraiders is correct, many old Squat players have Land Raiders in their Squat Army. For the Epic 40k Land Raiders, the ones I used, I lopped off one Lascannon on each side, and shortened the remaining barrel a bit, then added a bit of card to the front top glacis to make it look less SM. I am sure you could figure out a way to make them look less Marine-ish and more Squat like.

Gorgons, yes long ago there was a model, I have four of them, but we have discovered an easy way to make them out of the exsisting Griffon model. (1) Don't mount the Griffon mortar in the back (2) Dig up, or scratch build, a small turret for the front (3) Add the ends of some rounded toothpicks, 5mm is long enough, to the sides in a cluster of three (two on the bottom with the third over and centered on the two below). Makes a nice Gorgon it does.

Hope this helps.....

Jaldon :p

Never heard it called that before, but it sure does fit :(8:

Glad you figured out what to do with them before melting them down and molding them into something else!

@ Jaldon:
Is it ok, if we put the current version of the Squat-Lists in the download-sektion of  "http://www.e-armageddon.de"?

We would keep them updated...

Thanks Jaldon for your reply.
About the One Shoot Weapon you said: For the SHTs it would have required the player to keep track of exactly how many missile had been fired, if I remember correctly it was four on the Colossus, so it was either put extra paper work on the player or down grade the stats so they could fire every turn. Yes, four on the Colossus and Six on the Cyclops.
Is the same problem now with the IG Deathstike (in the case you had stiked the missiles with glue on the chassis!!). In previous (is this word correct?) games with ONE-SHOOT Weapons I'd used a smal dice near the models to keep track of missiles fired (fine until my cat came on the table....). :o0
