I am also using three Nobs and two Heavy Boyz - the stats give these guys two Heavy weapon shots anyway. The only time that I vary this is the 'Boss stand', where one of the Nob stands is the actual Warband boss and I pile whatever I like in the base. I really must get pictures up in my Gamers Tale thread!

The guys with the single back banner is a Nob. Two back banners I am using for Warboss.

To clarify, the second row, upside-down are: Grot, Madboy, Stormboy, Wildboy, Nob. Then the same repeated in the same order. I have just uploaded a picture of my first objective, and you should see a few in that.

CS- you're a star!!
:D
Thanks also to Justinel and L4 for their efforts to edukate an Ork noob.

Cheers

James

OK, my first question - what to base Skorchas on - Warhamster bases, 2p pieces, or something completely different?

Dysartes

It looks like we're both starting an Ork army at the same time? You ever thought of doing AMTL??
:D
I had the same thoughts yesterday when starting to assemble my first Ork figures. The Scorchas are fairly long and they look as if they will fit perfectly on warhamster bases. Check out Carl Woodrow's Orks at the dropship.org.uk- that's what he's done and they look great.

I am not sure what to do for the Warbuggies/Wartraks. They are quite a bit smaller than Skorchas- am worried that they might be swamped. Not keen on round bases such as coins. Freshmetal has based his Dethkoptas on coins and they look great. For more normal vehicles I think I want square/rectangular bases.

So I can either use the old plastic Epic infnatry bases, get some pre-cut plasticard or use the warhamster bases after all.

Let us know how you get on....

Cheers

James

I thought about the Warbuggies too. I think that I will actually base these in pairs on Warmaster bases. Warbikes will be in threes and fours on the same type of base. This should keep them looking quite good, and allow some cool combinations.

HI CS.

You must have a LOT of Ork buggies to do that!! I have 1 pack of the new biggies and shortly should receive another 8 of the old metal buggies. If I do them 2 to a warhamster base that is halving the size of KoS that I can field.

With Skorchas I will be lucky to field 2 minimum sized KoS instead of the 2 large KoS that I want, at the very least.

Cheers

James

True, you do need twice as many buggies to do it this way. But, I paint so slowly, and the minis are currently available, so it not such a problem. Alternatively, you could cut the Warmaster bases in half and use those.

I managed to pick up 3 of the SM/TL Skorcha blisters for ?1 each, giving me a medium-sized KoS straight off the bat :)

Hence the basing question ;)

Well I have just discovered my new all time favourite figure. Don't laugh but it is the plastic Ork Battlewagon multi-part set that came with (I think) Epic 40,000.

You may snigger but that is the first time I have had any of these little beauties and they are great. Separate guns, separate close combat blades/rollers at the front.

I spent last night ripping turrets of my old metal gutrippas/bowelburnas/battlewagons and affixed them to the plastic battlewagons and then stuck plastic turrets onto my metal tanks. Volia - instant variety - no tank looks the same.

I maybe easliy pleased but so far I am really enjoying assembling my small Waaagh. The key question is will I be able to follow it through and get out the painting brushes this weekend....
Cheers

Yes, I just finished the last of my E40K B/Wagons, mixing and matching turrets from other Ork models, as well.  They are nice !  Just got Swordwind, hope they make those Jukkatruks and all the other Feral Ork stuff, too !   :D

Yes- I might have to get some Junkatrukks and put some red paint on them for use in Speedfreeks. The converted buggies, whilst Freshmetal's ones look really cool, are just too small IMO.

The other alternative is that I might use dragsters to represent Junkatrukks for Speedfreeks. Otherwise I don't know how to use dragsters in EpicA Ork force.

Cheers

Hi  Noone has mentioned Gargants yet. So given 1 has arrived in the mail I have to decide how to arm it.

How do you arm your Gargants?

Super Zzap gun, Mega Choppa or a 3rd Soopagun?

How would this change if you were fielding them as OGBM instead of using main Ork army list?

Cheers

James

Is this the new, current Gargant you're speaking of? 'Cause I need images of the new Gargant variants for my Ork hardware book.

I took snapshots of the Great Gargant bits section back in 2004 when they were visible in the US online store, but forgot to take shots of the Gargant, and now they're gone  :(

All my Gargants, like my Titans, have ranged weapons ... close combat weapons are toys for amateurs !    (L4SoTR) :;):

Yes Magnus.

I bought one Mint-in-box- it had 2 Soopaguns, 1 Soopa Zzap gun and 1 Mega Choppa.  I bought another off ebay- it just had 1 Soopagun and the Mega Choppa.

Does this help?

Cheers

James

So that would rule out Mega Choppa- even though it does have some ranged attacks.

So which would be better- 2 Soopa guns + 1 Soopa Zzap gun, or 3 Soopa guns?

Looking at the BP table I would suspect the former as the latter only adds 1 extra BM compared to 2 Soopa guns alone.

Cheers

James

Either combination is good, IMO, but use the M/Choppa in trade ! :;):  It looks like the F/Ork S/Gargant (it looks about the size of a M/B Gargant or M/B Supa-Stompa ?!) has a C/Cbt arm ... goes to trade. Hope they include extra weapons like in the Stompa pack !  :D
