..Hmm, in my new Imperial Armour book, in the ForgeWorlds list, the Iron Skulls are said to be a loyal _Imperial_ legion, home FW Metalica.. etc etc..  :L

-Also, the SM2 box-set painted 'Eavy Metal example titan was an Iron Skull wa it not?

Yep.  Some of the traitor legions changed their names, though.  It's possible that a legion adopted the Iron Skulls name after converting to chaos.

I think the Imperial Armor is the only source I don't have covered at this point.  Can someone give me the rundown it has in there, please?

As I promised. However, it's not much. Just a list of Forge Worlds with the name of Titan Legion plus what segmentum they're located in. :(

Like I said earlier, Flaming Skulls and Storm Lords are not listed as taraitors any more. Maybe new legions have been founded and given the old name?  ???

Legion Name: Legio Destructor (Beasts of Steel)
Forge World: Accatran, Ultima Segmentum

Legion Name: Legio Tempestor (Storm Lords)
Forge World: Estaban III, Ultima Segmentum

Legion Name: Legio Magna (Flaming Skulls)
Forge World: Estaban VII, Ultima Segmentum

Legion Name: Legio Astramana (Morning Stars)
Forge World: Graia, Segmentum Tempestus

Legion Name: Legio Gryphonicus (Howling Griffons)
Forge World: Gryphonne IV, Segmentum Tempestus

Legion Name: Legio Astorum (Warp Runners)
Forge World: Lucius, Segmentum Obscuras

Legion Name: Legio Ignatum (Fire Wasps)
Forge World: Mars, Segmentum Solar. Also home to two other legions, which are classified.

Legion Name: Legio Metalica (Iron Skulls)
Forge World: Metalica, Ultima Segmentum

Legion Name: Legio Crucius (Warmongers)
Forge World: Ryza, Segmentum Solar

Legion Name: Legio Honorum (Deathbolts)
Forge World:Stygies VII, Ultima Segmentum

Legion Name: Legio Pallidus Mor (Pale Riders)
Forge World: Tolkhan, Segmentum Tempestus

Legion Name: Legio Victorum (Foe Slayers)
Forge World: Triplex Phall, Ultima Segmentum

Legion Name: Legio Invigilata (Emperor's Guard)
Forge World: Voss Prime, Segmentum Solar

Wasn't Legio Metallica the legion that fought Orks too often and was primarily armed with CC and short ranged weapons charging in blaring heavy metal?

If so - they really need to be more inventive with the names...

From IA "Iron Warriors":  Legio supporting IW seiges are often fitted with Corvus assualt pods and utilised as seige towers in support of the assault and breaching units

From "Storm of Iron": Legio Ignatum's FW is Mars

Are you including the names of know Titans and what Legio they belong to as well?  I'll skim out the Titans names from the novel if you are.

Mojarn: ?Many thanks. ?I'm going to include the following note about duplicate names after the Traitor Legion table:

"...Possible explanations for this include: ?legions which split during the Heresy, the new Orders are very tradition oriented and revived the names so as to be the "true" legion, several traitor legions are known to have changed their names and may have duplicated loyalist names"

Tas: ?Unless they are particularly noteworthy (like the Legio Crucius Imperator destroyed fighting chaos) I'm not adding individual titan names right now. ?That might be a good project for the future.

I think that's going to be the end of what I find for now. ?I'll update my info and talk to Cybershadow about a good place to post it. ?I'll probably post it to the Epic yahoo groups, too.

It's on Yahoo epic and epicA.

I tried to past the link, but every time I did, some sort of auto-formatting messed up the link.  Here's the link to the files page on epic.

Hi all,

As most will (should) have noted, I'm currently painting up a small IG army for Epic:Armageddon.

Having not playtested in a good while, I'm sure much has changed that I'm as yet unaware of. Thus I turn to you for your thoughts on my army composition.

Its designed to be a 5000 point force, but with 500points leway to allow me some variation.

Thus we have (bold is companies, italic is what a formation contains, normal is Co.upgrades):
1 Regimental HQ
Regimental Command, Salamander, 12 troop stands, 6 chimeras
Fire Support Platoon in Chimeras
4 Fire Support Stands, 2 Chimeras

Mechanised Company
1 Command, Salamander, 12 troop stands, 6 chimeras
Fire Support Platoon in Chimeras
4 Fire Support Stands, 2 Chimeras

Tank Comapany
9 Leman Russ & 1 Vanquisher command

Super Heavy Tank Company
3 baneblades (that look a lot like Stormhammers)

Super Heavy Tank Company
3 Shadowswords (that look a lot like Stormblades)

Artillery Company
1 Salamander, 6 Manticore, 3 Bombard

Support Formations
Sentinel Squadron
4 Sentinel scout walkers
Sentinel Squadron
4 Sentinel scout walkers
Flak Battery
3 Hydra Flak Tanks
Artillery Battery
3 manticores
Artillery Battery
3 basilisk

I also have the following "floating" upgrades, ie I cant decide which companies they would be of most use for:
Tank Squadron
3 Leman Russ MBTs (that look a lot like destroyer tank hunters)
Tank Squadron
3 Leman Russ Demolishers
Griffon Battery
3 griffon mortars (which look a lot like Medusas)

Navy Support
2 Thunderbolt Fighters (which look a lot like Lightning strike aircraft)
2 marauder Bombers

All told, its 5350 points.
I initially planned a 4K army, with only one SHT company ever being fielded at a time, but with some new additions on order, it expanded to 5K rather fast.

What would you add?
Where would you alocate the support formations?
What would you change around?
Would you say that a Titan is really needed?
If So, could I get away with a reaver or warhounds?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

I would think that you could get away with a pair of warhounds in most situations, because paired with your Shadowswords they could handle an enemy titan, as long as there were only one or two.  Any more than that, and you would probably need the heavier firepower of the reaver to go with them.  I personally like my pair of warhounds, they rock.

my 2cents,

iblisdrax

Looks pretty good T/S !  I'd say between your SHTs and air units, you should be able to handle a Titan attack, without too much trouble. :)

Flak Battery
3 Hydra Flak Tanks

You may want to spread these around the companies, say one each for the two mech. inf. coys and one for the tank company. That way you can cover a lot more ground with some flak and not worry about the single fragile formation.

I also have the following "floating" upgrades, ie I cant decide which companies they would be of most use for:
Tank Squadron
3 Leman Russ MBTs (that look a lot like destroyer tank hunters)
3 Leman Russ Demolishers

These are slow, which often means they are a bit of a waste with mech. inf. Use them with the heavy tanks to provide extra firepower.

Griffon Battery

These definitely go with the supreme commander. He looks like your most expensive formation. You don't want the other mech. inf. company to match his point value, due to the Break Their Spirit objective.

Seems like a good force there Tuff! I have one correction to make though: Thunderbolts come in groups of 3 not 2 :D

Also, you seem to have more support formations than companies, or have I misunderstood and some of them are company upgrades?

Cheers

Chris

Asaura has some good points; I'd spilt up the AAA as well.  Enemy air can cut your armoured column to shreds in short order without some close defence

A pair of Warhounds never goes astray! :;):   They will divert a LOT of attention their way and probably give you an opening elsewhere.  If you want some real titan killer power, take a pair of Deathstrikes...

Basilisks.  I'd take them vice the Bombards.  Much nicer, especially with the updated stats for directf ire AT role (can we say German 88mm kiddies?  :) )

But that is just fien tuning.  Its a nice, well rounded forec that will suit most circumstances.  And you are a #$%^ for getting it all done in a week, including time at the pub.
