Hi!

Agreed. The eldar and feral ork stuff seems to have been done before downsizing desicions were made. All else is indeed chance.

I love bashing GW as much as the next guy, but enough Doom and Gloom. :)

Let's focus on something good like the fact that Forge World seems like they will keep putting stuff out.

Hi Guys,

Dafrca: I love bashing GW as much as the next guy, but enough Doom and Gloom.

Here, here!

I also get a little tired of the GW-bashing. E-A came out and we have new minis...

*** Maybe we should focus on the positive? ***

After all we got new rulebooks, minis, online support, 10 issues of a magazine and many of our own members here participated in the process of creating all of these new goodies.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Agreed. I think that we all can see the potential problems with Fanatic and Epic, however let try to look on the bright side. Things are still better than they were with E40K.  :D

Hi!

You seem intent on cutting my posting volume.....  :;):

Indeed FW is the future. I wonder what there next releases will be? I hope they round of the Tau, although my most fervent hope is a new army line with Necron or Sisters of Battle as my main choices.

I too have placed my hope in FW to help keep the Epic flow going. I know they hinted at some more stuff to come, so as long as we keep buying I hope they keep making.

I do know I have spent a fair amount with the folks at FW.

Hi!

I think FW can see doing epic stuff is profitable. I'd bet they get a good amount of orders from these epic releases. It would be a hit if they did Necrons or other such not previously made army.

We'll see. :)

I think if they hit some of the non-existant and odd stuff, they would do well.

Necrons, Sisters, Witch Hunters, Some of the different IG troops, even some of the Chaos stuff.

I know quite a lot of people who bought Tau from them just because it was "New" and not something you could get anywhere else.

The thing with previously unreleased armies is choosing what to create. If they were to do Necrons, and cover what we see in 40k - ie, Worriers, Immortals, Destroyers, Tomb Spiders and Monoliths, for instance - I imagine that not only would they sell, but the Necron playtest level would increase. As I type this, there are a mahoosive 5 games recorded in the Battlestats for the Necrons.

Covering things like Land Transports and Daemon Engines for the LatD, variant Titan weapons for the Lucius pattern Titans (Lucius pattern Imperator, anyone?), or some of the variant Gargants would help each of these armies.

Just some thoughts.

Hi!

I agree, Necron minis would make interest in rules for them skyrocket.

Even in NetEpic we didnt do a formal Necron list due to the lack of minis.

I clearly like E:A better than I thought I would ! Like I said, it will be our rule system with a number of mods, but 85%+, will be E:A ! ? :) ? As I continue to review the rules (at work during dead time!), I make notes and post them here on my "Note pad" ! ?:;): ?I don't like the "F/W option" ... the models are too "fiddley", delicate and hard to paint ! ?Frankly after 15+ years of "Epicing", the only things I'd like to see are new models for new armies ... F/W is rapidly  guilty of doing another version(s) of existing models ?! ? Their Eldar were completely "un-needed", IMO. ?While Chaos is "the Forgotten Army" (1 model!) ! ?I would like to see Necrons, SoBs(not high on my list, but better than another IG/SM/ or Ork AFV!)  However, some Tallarn and Elysian troops, etc. would be very, very nice ! ?You can't have too may Infantry types ! ?Or even some unique alien terrain bitz (Eldar, 'Nids, etc. ... not more "Stalingrad" ruins ! ? ?F/W could be more imaginative, and stop Tony C. from doing more WWII-German-centric- alternate-history-versions of IG AFVs ! ?:O  Stop the Madness !!

Like most of us, I do enjoy bashing GW, but I am trying to remain optimistic. Given GW's history and my natural inclination to be pessimistic, it ain't going to be easy! ?:p I'm glad to see that FW sees that they might be able to make to money with epic, but FW minis seem a little pricey to me. They certainly are nice, but honestly I can't afford to buy many.

I guess I'm in the minority, but my main interest in getting more minis is in acquiring pre-E40k OOP stuff. Yes, I am planning on picking up some new things, like feral orks. Gotta have that steam gargant! ? :D ?Also, I have no interest in starting new armies. I'm happy sticking with the armies in SM2/TL.

As for new rules, I would like to see E:A rules for all minis ever produced, whether it be for GT games or in the collector's section. I was irritated with the way E40k practically ignored all the epic minis that had been previously released.

I can give you some bits that have been announced on the Epic Forums:

Priority armies will probably be (in roughly this order):  Chaos, Nid, Tau.  Last announced target dates for finalized lists to be submitted to Jervis from the Army Champions was September for Chaos and Nid and (iirc) December or January for Tau.  Figuring a couple months for final review (JJ and Rules Committee maybe?) and a like amount of time for layout and editing and we're looking at a ~Jan 2006 Chaos release, then Nids and Tau by the fall.

Chaos minis are still supposedly on line for after the first of the year.  Nids should be next, but I'm not sure how far behind they will be because they haven't been mentioned and a full line for chaos will probably (guessing here) take the majority of the available Epic production capacity.  On the plus side for Nids, the retro-designs in 40K make all the old molds more appealing to crossover players.

Tau model production is, of course, subject to the whims of FW.  They are not beholden to produce minis that actually line up with the actual list.  The best we can hope for is that they will be influenced by the "official" list to finish out a full line.  SG production of any Tau line is a distant future prospect if at all.

Also, I believe MC23, the Ulthwe list champion is almost ready to submit the first "variant" list for official approval under the AC/ERC system.  I think that a Black Legion/L&D/Ulthwe combi-release would make a nice Eye-of-Terror-ish package.
========

Edit:  For some reason, I'm thinking there was another army that had been given a submission deadline, but I can't remember what it was.  I was thinking there were 4, but it might have been CSM/L&D as 2 lists while I threw them together above.  In light of that, I might have the deadlines off by a couple months (Sep - CSM, L&D; Dec - Nid; early 2006 - Tau).
