I've now also added a phantom, three fire prisms, and a scorpion.

I think it's time to stop buying things for a while, eh?

Ok, if you guys will humor me, I've pretty much reached my ideal spending limit for starting up an eldar army, and I'm trying to figure out if there are any glaring problems that need addressing for a 3000 point list. So far I have:

five guardian hosts
12 Mk I falcons to serve as wave serpents
6 weapons platforms
3 howling banshee units
3 striking scorpions
3 swooping hawks
3 warp spiders
3 dark reapers
3 wraithguard
6 scouts
6 jetbikes
3 nightwings
3 fire prisms
4 war walkers
a storm serpent
a scorpion
a phantom

The obvious flaws that I can see need fixing are that I'm two war walkers short of the number needed for a troupe and i clearly need to sort out my aspect warriors to get something more useable. Plus I need an avatar and webway. But, on the whole, is that an okish selection for the bulk of an army?

A possible rough draft list would look something like:

3000 points
guardian host with wave serpents - 350
guardian host with wave serpents - 350
guardian host with 3 heavy weapons - 150
guardian host with 3 support weapons and 3 wraithguard - 350
aspect warrior host with 4 wave serpents - 500
windrider troupe - 200
ranger troupe - 150 (6 ranger units)
scorpion - 250
phantom - 750

Alternately, I could drop the phantom for 3 fire prisms and 3 nightwings and have some spare points, or crowbar in the storm serpent. I guess i should also find points for an autarch...

Just so you don't go hunting all over eBay, one of the changes I'm strongly likely to make for the Craftworld Eldar list is "War Walker Troupe: 4-6 War Walkers, 35 points each".

Other than that, lots of good stuff there!

Many thanks to Thalaric for the introductory game.

From this I learned that guardians in wave serpents are better than I thought they were and using the first move to plop a lone scorpion in the middle of the board without support is a bad plan.

You're welcome :)

I know people always underestimate guardians when I am playing them, and then I ended up doing the same thing   Just wait until you get a full compliment of heavy / support platforms and wraithguard

good job FC, welcome to the fold :)

Some of tips from my own games - always take an SC with Eldar, they're very fragile and it doesn't take much to make them start missing activations.
Never leave anything unsupported (like your scorpion - I did that once too!).
Guardians + wraithguard are simply evil assaulting out of wraithgates, particularly if you play them with RA saves.
Guardians+wave serpents is a very effective combination, always use the wave serpents to screen the guardians in a firefight.
Take firestorms whenever you can, they are stunningly effective AA (I once took down a thunderhawk filled with marines with one) and not bad at other things - they will restrict your opponent's freedom of movement in the air.
Always take 1 nightspinner battery - they won't last long but are very useful for prepping enemy fms for assault.
Vampire + aspects (4x scorpions - 2 exarchs - and 4x dire avengers is awesome) is very useful, though a very obvious tactic.
Storm serpent + vypers + guardians w/ wraithguard or aspects is a very mobile and effective strike force.
Always try and assault so that the assaulting fm consolidates into support range for another assault.
Never assault unless you're pretty sure you can pound your opponent into dust - prep with BMs, casualties, line up supporting fire, the works :)
There's more I'm sure, just can't think of anything else just yet!
