I am of a different opinion. I just dont like the original Tyranid Warrior minis, and the new ones are fantastic. If Fanatic changed the minis, I would certainly buy a LOT more of them.

Quote (Tas @ 25 2005 June,09:35) | As long as I know what it is and I think it looks cool, its similarlity to its 40K counterpart is nugatory | I do not need my Epic to look like the 40k stuff, heck I just bought some WWI guys to use as Guard. I need to like the minis. That is the main thing for me.
I like the new bugs better. They feel more like a whole rather then a mix of stuff shoved together for an army.
Course that is just me.

If they did new sculpts and they looked more like the new 40k ones, I would make a MAJOR investment in them.

Just to clarify a few things regarding the CSM army
There will be new figs, "new" figs and some DIY projects
New: Not 100% sure but look for Defilers and Obliterators
"New": Epic40K Chaos figs that were never released. Dreads, Bikes and the Banelord
DIY: Both new WEs and possibly the two Chaos Titans
AFAIK there will not be any new figs for the WEs and there are going to be articles written to describe how to build them

To be honest, just this - along with the previous stuff re-released - would make me a very happy person. Chaos has been in some way fortunate, that the original sprues have hardly dated at all, the list and theme has changed very little, some stuff was already in the pipeline and it requires just a few extra bits. I am secretly happy that some of the larger units wont been seen as official minis, as it forces people to be a little creative, which can only be a good thing. Any idea on when the first 'final and official' Chaos list will be ready?

Hi!
I agree. I'll be happy (not to mention surprised), if they produce and delivery what PG mentions.

When it's in my hands, then I'll know ... otherwise, it's just a rumor ...

Quote (PitFiend @ 25 2005 June,12:47) | Quote (CyberShadow @ 25 2005 June,11:54) | things like the Tyranids, which look entirely different will just be re-released and not updated. I guess that the logic is that you know what they are, even if they dont look like the 40K ones, so there should be no confusion during the game.# |
There's also the concept of the evolution of the bugs that they've run with a little in 40k, where the swarms from different hives look different and have evolved to deal with their opponents, and thus the different evolutions of the models are all good to use. | Correct.
Remember also that the new 40k bug line has a retro look, so only the epic warrriors look potentially 'out of place' now (unless like me you really like them and have over twenty of them in a 40k army as well)! The new warriors just look like 'Aliens' to me... one of the reasons the new tyrant sculpt has gone back to being tyranid rather than an 'Alien Queen' I think.
Anyway, the whole mixing of bug edition types is supported in 40k, (I have old warriors, tyrants, Lictors, biovores, stealers(metal)) and new termis, hormis, gargoyles, and 3rd edition carnis. I tried to build my army to pretty much match the epic range
