The BFG endeavour was, ehm, a sad issue, but it was an expensive one for them.

The horror almost happened to the AdMech battleship recently. As it was put on store, then removed because of molding issues. Lucky they fixed that one.

Am I just being a bit slow here, or does this not make sense?

*sigh*

I'll explain for you.

GW isn't losing money fast enough.  All successful companies always lose money, and black industry was ruining this for GW by out selling the production capability, thus attempting o make money.

To be succesful GW had to close this branch to focus on those branches that are not having so much success.

A similar thing will happen to epic.  Thye will wait for us to get all we need from Ebay before rereleasing the old sprues (or more correctly new sprued made to look like the old sprues, for extra expense) at twice ebay prices.

:D  :D  :D

I think the GW mind(less?)set is more along these lines:

"All that money people are spending on Dark Heresy, they could be spending that on 40k instead! Better axe Dark Heresy so 40k can make more money!"

Maybe they need big boxes on their spread sheets for the board.  Or just a few boxes (we all know that high ranking managers have their brain removed and replaced with hair squigs).

So they only have room for WHFB, WH40K, LOTR and other, and it looks bad when other is bigger than the others.  Or when any of the numbers go other 10  :p

The 'new plans for Epic' referred to was simply me saying that I'm working with the rules committee to finish off the rule review.

That's from Jervis, via Gav Thorpe, posted on Warseer.

So much for rumbling. :D

Well, at least that means the rules review is moving.  The question I wonder is how much further have we moved in the meantime, and are we nearing some sort of consensus on Net E:A v1.0?

Does it? One easy test... Neal, have you heard or noticed any increase communication or activity regarding the Rules Review?

I suspect that this is more like 'we know that Epic players have been screwed again, and want to keep them holding out just a little longer'.

Essentially, this is a long way from 'Epic has been getting no love and we want to address that', and the fact that they now state that they are 'working on the rules review' is meaningless, since they have been doing that for about four years.

But, the ball stopped rolling essentially when JJ was moved out of SG. As far as I know, he is still out of SG, and they still have only half of one employee and an ERC in tatters. What has changed to make this initiative, if it exists, work where others have failed?

I emailed Andy a couple of weeks ago to enquire about whether the petition had produced anything, got this back-

16/12
Yes, we received the petition and has spurred Jervis to take a look at the Epic RR process which is currently underway with Jervis' guidance once again.

I queried this with Neal and he said that basically all thats happened is a few emails between himself, Greg and Jervis

I'm off to update the Rules Review Blog thread with the details, but the short answer is that I'm not impressed.

GW isn't losing money fast enough. ?All successful companies always lose money, and black industry was ruining this for GW by out selling the production capability, thus attempting o make money.

I think the GW mind(less?)set is more along these lines:

"All that money people are spending on Dark Heresy, they could be spending that on 40k instead! Better axe Dark Heresy so 40k can make more money!"

I think at the end of the day, this is not too far from the truth. ?I can imagine the board meeting going something like this:

Black Industries Person: "We're doing really well, Talisman has been a great success, and we've completely sold out of the 40K RPG - months before it's published!"

GW Boards Person: "so, how many plastic Baneblades and Space Marine Company sets will the 40k RPG players be buying then?"

BI P "Erm, none... they don't need any..."

GW BP: "Right, we'll drop it then."

Now, imagine the conversation for Epic:

Specialist Games Person: "Hey, the LotR licence is runing out, let's make EPIC one of the core games again, it was hugely popular when it was!"

GW BP: "Great! ?So people can buy more Space Marine Companies, and Baneblades - not to mention Titans!"

SG P: "You do realise it's 6mm, not for Apocalypse, right?"

GW BP: "... Oh. ?It'll have to go then."

I bet if you put a hidden camera in GW's boardroom, the conversatio would be just like that. ?:confuse: ?:p ?

So there is going to be a conversion kit to make the baneblade into a steam tank, so the fantasy players can get one.
