Maksim,

You've made my post much more dramatic than it needed to be...

Gandalf,

Maksim,
You've made my post much more dramatic than it needed to be...

Sorry. I probably have too much fun doing this anyway!  :D

Shalom,

This was the same for the Australian Army when I was a Gunner. In the Navy though the only units that dont have females are Clearance Divers. Girls serve in every capacity in every other vessel, including Submarines (my Sister is currently the Navigating Officer of a submarine...)

Just some random OT trivia... ?:)

Australia has a sub?  ???

My final goal is to see the official E-A Playtest Forums become a more pleasant place to chat again.

I don't think that's going to happen in the short term...

Maksim, my advice is walk away and ignore the Playtest Forum!

If it isn't working for you, then I wouldn't bother putting in the effort anymore.

If certain individuals are "annoying" you then don't worry about it and walk away.

Hi!

I agree with Dafrca that it more of an issue of what makes you happy and the questions he posed will help you reach a decision, although it seems you have already made one! :)

Hi!

To be frank, I agree and would take Jimbo's advice. I suspect the hassle is not worth the potential gain and questionable reward of trying to take action on that list.

Also, it's highly speculative that Jervis will take any action at all, let alone remove someone.

It really depends on how bent are you to make a change, but my gut tells me it may not be worth your while.

Good luck!

Primarch.

You are a scholar and a gentleman and have given me sound advice. Thank you!

I'm still confriming what I want to do about things although I'm leaning towards making an effort to have things changed for the better.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
The photos I'd like to send you for the site are going to be delayed. My sister is going through a divorce and she's my chief photographer and editer (Darn, she's good with Paint Shop!). I kept the E-mail with instructions from you how to send you the photos and in what format.

Primarch,

One of my problems is that I'm TOO decisive. I make up my mind and stand by my actions very quickly. I've learned over the years since I'm too hasty to seek the advice of others and wait a little before taking action.

Also, it's highly speculative that Jervis will take any action at all, let alone remove someone.

I still have faith in Jervis... :)

I'd say "Don't you?", but I'm afraid of your potential answer, Primarch!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

dafrca:  Good points all.

Legion:  It was nothing important.  I responded to your comment that not many people have commanded a rifle company in the jungle with the question of whether commanding a USMC weapons platoon in the Panamanian jungle counted, :)  and suggested we trade stories some time.

I didn't even notice the comment about women, and I don't know if it was added later or I missed it.

:D ? Got everything "decoded", I'm working with C/S on this, to get my system able to read text after a quote. Sidebar again, Neal, yes, I had 3 deployments with the 101 to Panama, and was award the U.S Army's "Jungle Expert" patch ... I'm sure we have waded the same swamps and crossed thru the same stretches of thick jungle ! ?That is why I said "few", I knew you were with the USMC, so you and Tas as a former Aussie Gunner may know more about what I speak of. ?So my point is, again, that the 3 of us are going to have a different "take" on things, than P/G, Periodic, dafrca, Jimbo, Maksim, Chris, GA 101 etc. and many others. ?Now I'm not berating those guys (I like you guys !) or anyone else, but our past "colors" our present ... ?And everyone's comments are welcome in an "intellectual" discussion ? :;):  And Neal, feel free to PM me to talk about being a Grunt anytime ! :D   Back on topic - Guys, I say let it go ... E-A will be a released in a 3-4 months and we will all be happy ! And we'll have a whole new set of "rants" !

Sorry to hear that she's going through troubles.

I haven't used Paint Shop for years - I always thought the animated gif part of it (version 5 or 6) was the best ever.

Currently using (in the main) Fireworks, but will dabble with Photoshop and CorelPhotoPaint.

I kept the E-mail with instructions from you how to send you the photos and in what format.

advance warning, my e-mail address will be changing... as I am now sick to death of the 2-300 odd spam messages I get per day and even more disappointed with the false positives that my anti-spam measures do (poor Darkone's messages to me kept been deleted).

New site address will be available soon (as soon I have my ADSL up and running (router died on me)).

What's the new address (well it's up and runing, but no content at the moment)

Oh yes, Maksim, I remember, you were a "Zoomie"!  I graduated from USAF Air/Ground Operations School, so I have worked with the USAF many times.  Whether it was loading troops and equipment on C130s, 141s or C5A, calling in A-10s, working with "Spectors", or coordinating "drops" (!) :o , etc.  You will see things from another perspective as well.  We have it all on this site, Army, Navy (Aussie), Air Force & Marines !  :;):

I have always expected a persons past experiences and life experiences were part of their point of view. I would never be offended if you felt the same way.  :;):

I agree, someone who has had combat experience will see combat very different from someone who has not. But I sometimes feel that in order to enjoy a game, sometimes those real world experiences need to be set aside for game play reasons. We all know a game will never simulate the real thing.

One time I was the GM of a group. They wanted to play Twilight 2000 and I was dumb enough to agree. The game ended because every week there was something I did wrong based on one players real life military experience. From that I realized sometimes we must ignore what we know from our real life experiences for the sake of game mechanics or even just plan fun.

I think of the family friend who can not go see any police movies because he can not let go of his real life as a policeman long enough to enjoy a silly Hollywood romp.

I feel I am rambling so I will stop. Bottom line is, I would never take offence to someone sharing their insights into the real world.
