You make that sound like a bad thing.  :))

I noticed something from the initial FW announcement about DCing Epic.  They said that epic was not making ENOUGH money, not that it was loosing money.  I wonder if this is more typical GW corporate baloney.  Sales need to look good THIS quarter no matter how badly we screw over some customers.

Interesting tactic. Had they announced this would people have held off waiting for the sale? By not announcing it then telling everyone that phoned 'off the record' that its going the create a firestorm!

Or am I giving FW too much credit  :))

I got carried away and have spent £950ish on epic today,

:O  :O  :O shock and awe...shock and awe

Hey, if he doesn't use some of the stuff he just bought, he just made an awesome investment... OOP Forgeworld Epic models will soon enough be hitting some impressive heights on eBay.

I'm not overly happy about having spent so much... I'd ordered a bit of everything I wanted, probably over-estimating as I was just doing it in an on the spot panic rather than being able to write and army lists and work out what was reasonable to want. I was shocked when he told me the total; I hadn't done the maths but I hadn't expected it to be half of that. I did get rid of and reduce a load of bits then, but was in work when he rang back so couldn't talk for long and in the end just went sod it and went with it while they still had stock. If I do end up with excess I don't trade here I guess I could maybe ebay and get some back for it.

FictionalCharacter: Epic instead of university. that's pretty intense.
It's not that simple; the course I've been looking at would be two years full time, with zero grants or loans available - I'd need to save well over £10k more to be able to, and I have only ever managed to dip further in to my money these last years rather than save anything, so it wasn't a straight choice of this epic or being able to go to uni or anything.
zedmeister: One thing I am sooo hoping for is a truescale Imperator!
Me too! Only if the Titan game really takes off though I'd guess. Do we know if the impression was it's on the schedule in a year as in 'we hope to release it in a year,' or 'we hope to start working on it in a year'?

Hmmmm.... with the models they've removed they have effectively caused a rush on the least popular models in the epic range. There was no official announcement, the missing models could be back next week!

I pray that's true. As they prey on us poor saps!

Wow !!!!!!  The forum is on fire with this topic !! :O  Well as I and Tom and others have said, there are a lot of other options out there ...  :) And it appears within a few months F/W Epic will be extinct, save for eBay, etc. ...  And I too like some others, have mentioned, have no real interest in Tony C's Big Titans ...  If for nothing else, imagine what a F/W In scale Epic Imperator would cost ?!  So as I have said before ... we'll again have to wait and see.  And in the mean time if you are looking for 6mm SF, visit other places - DRM, E/W, Baccus, GZG, Brigade, OGRE, etc., etc. ... And our inhouse rule writers and model makers will continue their good works ... :vD     Oh ... and BTW ... Frakk G/W-S/G-F/W !!!  8v)

I didnt ask, sorry.

If in doubt, assume the latter.

So, wait, the entire epic range is likely to be discontinued? They just pulled these particular figures now, but the review actually covers everything?

I believe they weren't "pulled", they're out-of-stock; it seems they are trying to sell through all the stock-on-hand and then review, so they're not left holding "dead" stock.  The review will cover the entire 6mm line, all races.  Only stuff useful in Aeronautic will, probably, get a "pass".

This massive rush of sales is great for ForgeWorld... not so good for the rest of us though.

No. as the stock is purchased they will pull more models from the range until there is nothing left. At the end of the review period circa Xmas 09 they will decide whether to redo the moulds and continue the range (either completely or in some form, or stop all together)

If I am wrong, and I hope I am, please correct me.

That's the way I see it D.  Based on the intel here ...  Maybe I'm "jumping the gun" in saying in a few months F/W Epic will go the way of the dinos ?  But it sure sounds that way to me ...

But surely if they see the orders come in from this tactical withdrawal we are fulfilling our own destiny by showing FW that there is a community willing to buy the models they produce. I can honestly say that I don't think FW will drop the line entirely - but have a much-reduced line and stricter casting controls.

How many orders have we had where there is a problem with the quality? By causing FW to redo the order we are taking them away from other orders, reducing the time they have to get orders shipped and costing them money.

Better QC, smaller range will mean more money for FW.
