Well, that does also make sense, Blarg ... and it is accurate too from a technical standpoint. And   E&C, that is one of the main reasons I decided for my crew, the Manticore will stay just as FA.   Nova/Grd both you and Blarg have some good concepts there.  So I say if you guys and others want to go DP ... I say go for it, regardless.           And Jokr3 ... the Ger. 88mm was a multi-purpose weapon. Originally an AA cannon then later pressed into service as an AT Gun, for the reasons Blarg stated. I have a good working knowledge of weapons and history and I know the 88mm can be used in an FA role, because of it's long range and accuracy.   And I believe that is what you are talking about.  FA is basically of two types of design; 1) Field Guns, and 2) Howitzers ...  the primary difference being Howitzers fire at a much higher trajectory and can hit targets on the far side of an obstacle that is blocking line of sight (like a ridge).  Where a Field Gun fires at a much shallower trajectory. And the 88mm is artillery by definition, it's Anti-Aircraft Artillery and later Anti-tank Artillery ... And let there be no doubt, WWII Allied Infantrymen feared the 88 almost as much as their tank crews ...       And that's the short answer, not mentioning how the number of "charges" and Elevation effects range, plus shell types - Proximity, Armor- Piercing, High Explosive, etc., etc. ... But you get the idea ... :)

Thanks L-4, makes alot of sense and was exactly what I was taliking about.  I always assumed it was the same multi-purpose gun, but was never sure if it was simply another gun of the same calibre.  Ive got the urge to read more on it, but not tonight :)
