I can't blame you for not liking VSF anymore, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't raise those points to the guys at Wessex Games... they might see the light (besides, it makes for another major player in the world, which would really change the balance of power).

?First operational military sub was the Turtle, in the AWI (American Revolution, to us yanks). The idea lay dormant for about another 90 years, until the South needed a way to defeat the Union blockade: ?CSS Hunley was the result. ?I'm a little fuzzy about early-1900s sub design in Europe, though.
I could try to tell them, but they already made the fluff, so i don't think they would change it.
A muscle-powered submarine??? Try this links:

What do you think that could have happened if Spain had this vessel available during the Spanish-American War(remember that a that time there were no anti-submarine explosives)? there's no one in Spain who knows why the government throw the submarine away after developing it succesfully.
But now we have the Aquanef stuff... Guess which country is NOT going to develop the first submarine
?
It is said that victory is always written by the winner, but writing even fictional history...
