+++ INVASION FORCE COMMANDER REPORT +++

The fleet arrived a week ago. Unfortunately, some sort of natural phenomena (codenamed W.O.R.K.) has jammed the fleet's sensors, so the land forces have had to be deployed in the planet and begin an slow reconaissance. Until now, there's no trace of the xenoarcheological team, their shelters discovered intact, but uninhabited. Anyway, the reconnaisance team discovered an ancient book, which seems some kind of engineering treatise from the Ancient Age of Terra:

The important discovery has been given to the HQ technical staff to be properly studied.

? ?+++ END OF REPORT +++

All minis look better when well-painted.

Y/O:  Didn't I warn you that VSF was highly contagious?  Besides, it gives you a chance to return Spain to her glory days of having an Empire!

Legion4, just paint one and let me see :D (hope you are correct)

Lion in the stars: the game seems very good, fast play, simple and clear rules, and a lot of fun. Unfortunately the fluff stablishes that Spain fared even worse than in real history (something i thought to be impossible), and stablishes that USA defeated Spain in a few months due to enormously superior aeronef power, a fact which seems to contradict the rest of the fluff, i mean: USA had almost no R-Matter, while Spain had a lot thanks to their colonies. The R-Matter then:

1. Would make Spain able to make a lot of nefs, while the USA should have been using a lot of Digs.
2. Spanish economy should have been a lot better, thanks to the R-Matter trade.
3. There would have been a true will to fight for the colonies, as they would have been a source of money, instead of a source for troubles (trust me, spanish politicians intended from the begining to loose the war, as the wars in Cuba and Philipines had been draining spanish economies for a lot of time).

Anyway, the fluff stablishes that Spain is easily defeated and blablabla, so there's nothing to talk about. And i think the expansion will put it in an even worse state... and surely we won't field the first fully operative military submarine (you know a guy named Isaac Peral? surely you don't)

PS: I think you now understand why most people in Spain don't like VSF xD

Gah!  The Aeronef authors didn't think too much about that, did they?

I can't blame you for not liking VSF anymore, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't raise those points to the guys at Wessex Games... they might see the light (besides, it makes for another major player in the world, which would really change the balance of power).

???  First operational military sub was the Turtle, in the AWI (American Revolution, to us yanks). The idea lay dormant for about another 90 years, until the South needed a way to defeat the Union blockade:  CSS Hunley was the result.  I'm a little fuzzy about early-1900s sub design in Europe, though.

I could try to tell them, but they already made the fluff, so i don't think they would change it.

A muscle-powered submarine??? Try this links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Peral

www.navymar.com/IsaacPeral.htm

What do you think that could have happened if Spain had this vessel available during the Spanish-American War(remember that a that time there were no anti-submarine explosives)? there's no one in Spain who knows why the government throw the submarine away after developing it succesfully.

But now we have the Aquanef stuff... Guess which country is NOT going to develop the first submarine :p ?

It is said that victory is always written by the winner, but writing even fictional history...  :O

...is done with the potential customers in mind. Guess which one has the larger wargaming population, U.S. or Spain?  :;):

And guess why there are VERY few wargames with anything Finnish in them.
