Now that would have been an interesting idea. Think of the press having three or four basic armies in the box would have created.

Even if they where only 1200 or 1500 points. I could just see the guys in my area buying a set and trading off the three armies they did not want for more of the one they did. Of course I being sick would have kept more :-)

That would be a great idea to have more than two armies in the box, but its unlikely.  Not even the main games have more than two armies.  So I doubt something on the budget Epic is on will have either.

What does need to happen is army lists for all races in the boxed set (which I assume will happen), otherwise there will be an upset.

I like the way its going, but I do wish they had chosen a different setting to the Armeggeddon world (I hate typing that name for a start  :L    )

There are plenty of worlds and setting to be chosen, why go over the same thing everytime?  It would be easier to introduce the other races.  I mean, Tyranids and Tau on Armeggeddon?  The Eldar can just about be justified, Chaos maybe.  Necrons? No way (if they are ever done)

Before we get on to how many armies in the box... does anyone know that there will actually BE a box? I think that there is a good chance that it will just be sold as a rule book and counters, like the Players Edition fo E40K.

As for what is included, I think that releasing piecemeal will put the thing on a knife edge. If the core three (two) forces dont have enough supporters, we may get a repeat of E40K, where the later armies were not even fully developed.

I seriously hope that this edition does well. I think that it is shaping up to be the best of the lot. I would like the army lists to all be included in the box, even if it delays the release and you cant buy all of the miniatures for it initially.

No, I do not know there will be a box. I think we where just talking about what would have been nice (ie a box set with a couple of the less supported armies) and it was said it would have been even better if the box had more then the usual two armies and thus the dream talk.

I do not know if there is going to be a box, but I suspect you are right that there is going to be a rules release and new minis for some units and that will be the "opening salvo".

On the topic of this tread, the tread in question is still on the playtest board, down to page 3 though.  Seems it just passed away on it's own.  Seeing the reactions it has provoced here, I am a bit suprised at that.   :D

ACTUALLY, I'm the editor of the E-A thread here at Epicomms!

I don't mind PG and Primarch hashing it out as long as they don't get personal AKA Ad Hominem attacks and they remain polite.

Sure Primarch can be a bit of a pessimist, but he's also seen multiple editions of the game fail and probably due to bad administration decisions although that's debateable. At any rate, he's been around a lot longer than you and very few of us find NepEpic to be in competition with E-A. I'm sure of that because I've been talking with most of the guys here for a long time.

You can't expect the past not to jade a few of us especially after Epic40k's big flop.

You've been polite, but don't lose control (not that you have or I expect you would). Consider yourself reprimanded too just to be evenminded.

I wonder if Jervis can get corporate GW to produce the Epic-40k miniatures. That would allow him to get more armies available without drawing more on Specialist Games' limited resources.

I think I'll post this idea on the E-A forums.

BTW: The EPICentre (netepic.org) supports both Epic:A and Netepic and we have worked to assist play testing, in fact our site is the only site linked too from the vault and hold the Epic:A battle stats. (Flame now stopped.)

The EPIC 40k: Armageddon game will be released as just a manual, the models for the game will be sold as units in blister format for the smaller units, and boxed sets for the larger units. Infantry, bikes and cav will be sold as strips, whilst vehicles, flyers and war engines will be sold without bases.

Whilst only the Orks and Imperials will be in the original game, there will be get you by army lists for the other races. These will be made into full army lists later on, with details published on the website and in the new EPIC magazine, and later collated into various annuals. So all you need to play the game will be the Manual, some models and the annuals. You will not have to trawl around with all the different magazines.

I asked Jervis what the role of Chaos would be in the EPIC 40k: Armageddon game and got the following response.

"With regard the Chaos list, we'll do a new set of background based on one of
Abaddon's Black Crusades. As we bring out further army lists we'll come up with new background campaigns for each one. Basically, Armageddon serves as a way of providing in-depth background material and focused scenarios and
army lists in the Epic rulebook, in much the same way that the Heresy did
for AT and 1st edition SM. As we bring out more material we'll use new campaigns in a similar manner, rather than 'locking' Epic into a single campaign."

Playtesting information should be out for Chaos in a few weeks :).

Another statement from Jervis this time about the metal infantry.

"The metal stands are cast as complete stands (i.e. the pics you've seen on Carl's site are one piece castings). They will be sold in packs like Warmaster units, probably 8-10 stands for the same price as a Warmaster unit. Stands will probably *not* be sold individually, and individual infantry certainly not."

We have had confirmation from Jervis that there will be Cadian Imperial Guard figures released for the Chaos Campaign pack.

It is worth checking the news, it is regularly updated, and I get info from Jervis quite regularly.

So if GAMBIT is correct and we use the Warmaster Blisters as a gage that means about $8 USD for a basic formation? Boxed stuff would be higher I would imagine.

Most of those articles are direct quotes from Jervis, so the range should be quite affordable... even for Ork and IG players :).

It won't be as cheap as the plastics, but it still shouldn't break the bank.

This is good news.  I was worried about how it was all going to be released.  I didn't want the system locked in the Armmegeddon campaign.  Which I think it might be considering its name.

At least there will be get you by lists, which I imagine will be pretty close to the final lists due to the playtesting forum.

Wow !!! This whole Epic conundrum has become very polemic and I feel unnecessarily so. ?E-A is still a work-in-progress, Jervis took on a daunting if not impossible task by trying to design a game with the "rule by soviet" method. ?Everbody has input, but you can't please everyone, obviously, especially when the "cake is still in the oven" ... ?The notion of the previous incarnation (E40K) of Epic being a failure is a curious ?concept to me, I've been thru many versions since SM1 in '90 and I didn't know if there was a measure for success or failure ? ?Only 5% (+ or -) of the G/W "take" comes from Epic. ?It will never have the popularity of say, WH40K or WHFB. ? But ... who cares ? ?We like it, we play it using various sets of rules, house rules, hybrid rules, etc., etc... ?And I'll never play Max, Primarch, Darkone or any of you other guys in a game, so why all the consternation ? ?I don't even know what you guys look like ?,! ?? Some see E-A as the "2nd Coming", (4th actually ), while others see it as a visit from the IRS ?:blues: , or =][=. ?I'm looking forward to it because of the new models released, more than anything else. ?Rule systems vary and are negotiable, at best. ?What system I play is not a good, worst or best system, it's the rules we prefer, for any number of reasons, which you may or may not agree with ... ?I liked all the models released with E40K (I bought most of them) ?and probably will buy most of the E-A models. I just hope I can buy what I want and not buy just blisters packed by Beavis & Butthead ? ? ?:laugh: ! ? (If not I'll have plenty of extras to sell to you members of the Epic Cult.) ?I feel by the "melding" of many of the Epic sites, with the most unfortunate illness of TuffSkull, is as close to being a "unified Epic community" as we're going get, not that it matters. ?We are all going to play the game in the privacy of our own "War Room" as we see fit (regardless of what the =][= thinks) ? I say, G/W release the models, release the rule book and let the games begin ... Of course, that's only my opinion ... I could be wrong ? ? ??Legion 4 ... out ...

I totally agree with you mate, although it has to be remembered that EPIC used to contribute 12% of Games Workshops income.... very high, it used to be a core game along with Rogue Trader (40k) and WFB.
