...FW stuff is _very_ delicate- my Epic Night Spinners I got at GamesDay all had some of the prong thingys on the end of the guns broken off- I found most of them in the bag, but had to make a couple, which wasn't easy..

I was lucky and only one Falcon gun was broken and I repaired it with marginal ease. And that is good odds, considering I ordered one pack of each of the new F/W models ! But that is one thing you can say about the G/W metal models, although being generally thicker, they are more durable.

Yes, I dont think I'll bother buying the FW Eldar vehicles. I dont have any real problem with the Epic40K ones I already have.
I have plenty falcons, Wave Serpents, Night Spinners and Fire Prisms without needing to order any from them. Besides, having two designs would only look out of place. That's something you can get away with in an Ork army.
Next on my list from forgeworld will be a pack of guntrukks with lobba, a pack with a kannon and maybe some warhounds. Not for a while yet though.

FW stuff is always delicate, but adds a bit more variety to anyone's army. All I have from FW however is a set of Lightning fighters, which too ages to glue up!
I saw a guy in my GW the other day, who had gone to gamesday and bought a couple of Warhounds, he said they took him 3 days to just assemble due to all the flash!
Cheers
Chris

There is no reason that different units cant be allocated a new upgrade or whatever. Even have those units from a different Craftworld.
When you look at how long it takes for new models and upgrades to filter though modern armies (a squillionth of the size of these 40k armies we are talking about) you start to see that 'uniformity of equipment' issues is usually anything but!
I use different versions fo arty and Russ in my IG force, allocated to seperate batteries and companies so within subunits there is uniformity, but more variety on table.
But thats just IMHO of course

Hi!
I know what you mean Markconz. I was real excited when the first FW models. After I got some and saw how fragile they where, I'm less enthusiastic. So I tend to my far less of them than I would metal ones.

Yeah, picking up a lightweight resin Titan just feels wrong somehow...
The resin travels rather poorly accross the world too, and being on the wrong end of a bad exchange rate where we are Markconz kinda makes them rather less value for money as well....

Yes, I have all my F/W models in separate units. ?For example, some of my IG Tank Cos. have two Plts. of G/W and one of F/W. ?But never mixed. ?The whole F/W "experiment" still is a conundrum to me ? ? Why would the same business produce the same thing in two different forms ? ?More detail vs. less durability, etc., etc. ? ? Quite illogical ... ? ? ?

Hi!
It's just poor coordination. I think FW would be more valuable if it did units and models that were not in the standard epic line. Sorta like special models not available elsewhere.
The redundancy in their line has made it unattractive to me to buy recently. I'm waiting for metal models to come out and buy those.

Agreed ... G/W is doing one thing, F/W another, and Fanatic is just ... well who knows !? This isn't decentralized control, it's out of control ...

Hi!
I find it wierd that such a relatively large game company cannot marshal its resources more effectively.
If GW had been more organized they would have taken over the hobby "for real" years ago.

Primarch | Yeah, but would we really want that? Think about Microsoft...

I have to say, I was a little suprised this morning. My parcel arrived from Forgeworld. Since its counting as partial payment for the commission painting I did for Fanatic, it went through the Fanatic office before it came to me.
This is the first time that I have had an order sent out that hasnt been either to myself, or clearly traceable to me & its made me definite on one thing.
I have, in the past, been subject to something of a "favouritism" from FW. I guess its down to the fact that I used to review everything epic they did & pick it to pieces. They were well aware that I did this & thus obviously sent me stuff that had been checked over prior to shipping.
This batch's casting is abismal in comparrison to the pieces I have recieved & reviewed in the past. I recieved: 3 Basilisk - These are good. Nothing out of the ordinary & the chassis are very clean. 9 Chimeras - a lot of details are filled in with excess resin. Some details are plain missing when compared to those I've already painted. 3 Trojans - relatively good. Some loss of detail on the chassis & a few fiddly bits of flash on the crane, but nothing major. 3 Destroyers - all good. 3 Ork gunwagons & 3 armoured trukks. Not impressed with the flash on the rams, but I've never bought these before to compare. 3 Stormblades - Ignoring the fact that they were missing 1 sponson turret, these are the worst cast FW minis I've seen to date. It looks like the entire mould has been bent out of shape. the tracks have a distinct wavy appearance which actually looks quite good. Whats not good is the fact that the armoured skirt has the same waves in it....... Detail on the stormblades is lost & obscured all over the place & air bubbles are causing problems around the back ends of all the miniatures.
I might have been unlucky this time & its not been a great day so am probably not looking at them in the best of minds, but I have been dissapointed, and to be honest, VERY suprised. I have been nothing but amazed and the detail and quality that I have always seen from FW in the past. This has somewhat dampened those views. As I say, I hope this one batch was an unlucky one, rather than the other way round......
