Don't forget that since very early in development it was stated that EpicA is a "War game" not a "war simulator" .

Like I said, we'll have to agree to disagree because it's a personal opinion whether any given rule feels jarring.

For me it's also from a game mechanics point of view that it feels weird - both sides have units moving but in one case the movement (no matter how small) is used as a justification for the unit not being in cover while in the other case the movement (no matter how large) doesn't alter the cover status. Unless the unit actually moves out of cover or into BtB, obviously.

I do agree that it makes engagements easier to work out but that doesn't mean that I have to like how the decision is justified in game terms. :(
