40k is closer to the scale of Bloodbowl than Epic really both in time and space. Think about it! And it uses a IGOUGO mechanism which is bonkers for that kind of conflict.

My turn: i move everything.
Your turn: you move everything.

Not even any Op Fire.

I GO U GO.

Op fire, Chit-pulls, interrupts, Retaining, card pulls, command-roll fails etc. are all alternative game mechanics to make move-fire sequences more chaotic.

Right, yes, I totally understand now, and it was one of the things that most turned me off of 40k eventually in favour of Epic.

A very old quote from JJ (possibly the original development boards, but I pulled this from a re-post much later).
Quote:

15cm = @250m

30cm = @1KM

45cm = @2KM

60cm = @3KM

75cm = @4KM

90cm = @5KM

150cm = @10KM

300cm = @30KM

Interestingly, this means that the closer you get to the enemy, the slower you move, as the ground scale increases but the speed with which you cross it does not. Which happens to be quite realistic in an abstract sort of way, as formations do move much more slowly the closer they get to the enemy. Of course it also means that terrain features can grow and shrink in size, but lets not talk about that

Best regards,

15cm = 250m because vast majority of kills from small arms are at 250m or less. Thus firefight, representing the most intense small arms exchanges in the game, is 250m/15cm max range.

I wonder if they have an equivalent "official" variable distance for their 28mm scale games (well, WHFB and 40k, I presume BloodBowl doesn't need one!).

The short answer is "no", and the long answer is an essay that ends with "the game can't decide what scale of conflict it is supposed to be representing, so it can't really be said to have any scale other than What You See Is What You Get" (That most especially applies to WFB which is pretty nonsensical especially in its latest edition).

It's a good thing we don't have any actual maps of Armageddon -- variable ground scale seems a bit difficult to build to scale... or maybe in the postmodern world we don't need no stinking maps.

There is a map of Armageddon.

But not any that are detailed enough to try to build a board from.

Titan's too I hear.

How they all manage to peacefully line up just a few feet away prior to the carnage starting is a question answered only by astrophysics and a good deal of looking the other way. ;)

Why does that not surprise me?
