I hope they include the Imperator as well, so we can use it "legally" for once...but then again, that means a new Imperator! YES!!!
Indeed Iain, many people are ecstatic about the list now! I wish they would release it earlier, like today!
Cheers
Chris

I don't know that the megagargants and imperators will be included. My guess is that weapon fits for the imperials and titan company rules/points will be very tough to balance as it is, without throwing in entirely new units that really push the scope of the rules systems.
Per JJ's commentary, knight households will probably be included in the AT lists, too. That's an awful lot of new units and rules hitting the table in a single wave.
On the plus side, though, the necron/AT is way out on the release schedule, so _maybe_ that would be enough time to get the massive necessary quantities of playtesting done.
Freshmetal: I suspect the changes to the IF will be almost strictly organizational and that very few if any of your units will be unusable.
Re. army lists: Most of them will be "beta" lists, and even some of the entirely new lists should be close enough out of the gate to only need tweaking (BA, DA, IF, the Eldar variants, Cadian) so I would call them "betas" even on the first draft. I suspect that the Nid splinter fleet (I believe it will be an entirely new Phase III structure) and the AT stuff will require the most testing, followed by Tau and Necrons which are still rough.

Hi all, knowing full well that the rush-into-the-open-and-assault aspect of WH40K does not appeal to all, and that Epic provides a more rational approach to wargaming, do you feel close-combat oriented armies have a role in Epic, and if so, which of these do you think fits this description (a close-combat army) best whilst still making Epic sense? Apologies if I omitted any!

And I did have a feeling you'd go for the Nids.

You missed out my Dark Angel rush of doom - against Tau firefights don't work and I have to get into CC before Dougs air force (which comprises half of the Tau models every produced by the Forgeworld factories obliterates my army)

OK, if I had to play a "Charge for all you are worth" army, it would be bugs.
Of course, the fact I own almost no bugs should tell you something.

I, too, voted for 'Nids, but my initial thought was Khorne. I've seen a Khorne army do serious damage in close combat. On the other hand, in the last game I played against 'Nids, my army SM/TL got sliced up from the combined firepower of 5 bio-titans! I had expected the usual unstoppable horde, hell bent for close in action. Needless to say, I was quite surpised!

It keeps the opponents guessing. The player who did this was smart. Next time you will have to plan for both.
In any event, you will need to kick his hind end next time for the Honor of the Imperium.

Yep ! The way G/W designed the Bugs you don't have much choice ... but we're working on fixing that. So far, have never really been satisfied with the 'Nid OOBs ...
