Agreed ... G/W is doing one thing, F/W another, and Fanatic is just ... well who knows !? This isn't decentralized control, it's out of control ...

Do I hear a funeral dirge in the background? Just what are the bozos in GW marketing thinking. Or, rather, when are they going to START thinking...

Hi!
I find it wierd that such a relatively large game company cannot marshal its resources more effectively.
If GW had been more organized they would have taken over the hobby "for real" years ago.

Hi!
I dont think the "marketing bozos" are thinking at all. In fact I'd bet the whole "epic thing" is beneath their radar and have not given it much thought. I truely believe Jervis is all alone on this project and its beginning to show.
By the way, "one army a year" IF the sales projections hold. IF not then NO ARMIES A YEAR.

I have to say, I was a little suprised this morning. My parcel arrived from Forgeworld. Since its counting as partial payment for the commission painting I did for Fanatic, it went through the Fanatic office before it came to me.
This is the first time that I have had an order sent out that hasnt been either to myself, or clearly traceable to me & its made me definite on one thing.
I have, in the past, been subject to something of a "favouritism" from FW. I guess its down to the fact that I used to review everything epic they did & pick it to pieces. They were well aware that I did this & thus obviously sent me stuff that had been checked over prior to shipping.
This batch's casting is abismal in comparrison to the pieces I have recieved & reviewed in the past. I recieved: 3 Basilisk - These are good. Nothing out of the ordinary & the chassis are very clean. 9 Chimeras - a lot of details are filled in with excess resin. Some details are plain missing when compared to those I've already painted. 3 Trojans - relatively good. Some loss of detail on the chassis & a few fiddly bits of flash on the crane, but nothing major. 3 Destroyers - all good. 3 Ork gunwagons & 3 armoured trukks. Not impressed with the flash on the rams, but I've never bought these before to compare. 3 Stormblades - Ignoring the fact that they were missing 1 sponson turret, these are the worst cast FW minis I've seen to date. It looks like the entire mould has been bent out of shape. the tracks have a distinct wavy appearance which actually looks quite good. Whats not good is the fact that the armoured skirt has the same waves in it....... Detail on the stormblades is lost & obscured all over the place & air bubbles are causing problems around the back ends of all the miniatures.
I might have been unlucky this time & its not been a great day so am probably not looking at them in the best of minds, but I have been dissapointed, and to be honest, VERY suprised. I have been nothing but amazed and the detail and quality that I have always seen from FW in the past. This has somewhat dampened those views. As I say, I hope this one batch was an unlucky one, rather than the other way round......

E-mail F/W, T/S ... for what we pay for the stuff, there should be no reason for poor moldings !

I should have added that I've already emailed with my concerns, but its a bit awkward since I have to complain to Fanatic & them complain on to FW (as far as FW are concerned, Fanatic were their customer, not me). I dont want to take up too much of Tom's time sorting this out when I know they're going Nuts getting everything ready for E:A, the new Mag & filling the void left by Steve's passing.
I guess I'll have to wait until Monday to see what happens now!

I thought you had some Marauders on the was as well Tuff?
Also, I agree Fanatic could be overworked at this point in time, but you have to remember that in theory, Fanatic are overstaffed, as they only generate 5% of GW's sales, and have more man power than (in theory) is needed!
Cheers

This all seems kinda odd, as JJ himself said one army every 6 months (at GD UK), thus Tau was a "mere" 2 years away.
Plus, this theory seems to have worked with warmaster, as they have been slowly adding armies every so often since its release.
Cheers

Chris | Well, yeah, there were a few other bits, but one doesnt like to brag
Those listed were all the vehicles. I also got 2 Marauders, another Harriadan & 2 ruinded Librariums (though those mirraculasly arrived complete, not ruined, so I'm getting them swapped!)

Hi!
But remember warmaster had quite a few armies released quickly and then added to those slowly. In epic's case were talking about waiting years for all the core armies to appear, let alone ones like the Tau or Necron.
Also, warmaster had a very good run prior to going "fanatic" and their sales seem quite good still.
Epic has none of these things going for it.

Why is everyone viewing this as a dead game before it has even gone into production? We don't know what the future brings. We don't know how much WD is going to publicise it, nor how much will be stocked in stores or if any games will be played in stores. As long as they do the right thing at the right time we will be ok, and the game will survive, but as of right now, I am afraid that they are not at all sorted...
Cheers
Chris
