It should do, after all 40k takes place a long, long time away in galaxy far far away (and near). ;D

Wrong! Heresy..

40k happens IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE ( and there is only war.)

There, fixed it for you.

A lot of people don't know that this was the runner-up marketing line.

If this is true, it does kinda make everything we've been working on pointless.

Just out of interest, IF this rumour is true and a new version of epic emerges from GW, will it replace your current version of game rules (being the official version)?

Shrug. Depends on how good they are and what opponents are available!

I'd imagine both would get played.

I would not say so at all. If the rules are worse, and given GW's track record of late, I imagine we will stick to E:A where I live. We know nothing of an eventual release schedule as well. If the rumour is true, we get two armies (seems like E40K mistake again) and nothing else. Worst case, we get good minis and can use them.

This is all somehow very weird. I know no other hobby company who does not try to produce some interest before the product is marketed. I understand if R&D-heavy industries (like consumer electronics) wish to protect their latest ideas from leaking, but miniatures, for wargaming? Computer and video games go the other way around. Beta-testing, creating communities etc. The only thing that makes me not completely ignore this rumour is the token placeholder for Specialist Games on their website.

Well Guys ... when it comes to what rules you use ... GW is not sending Commissars to everyone's house who bought any of the 4 iterations of Epic to see what rules they are playing ... Strike Legion, Exodus Wars rules, DRM's Seeds Of War, Dirtside, FWC, The Crucible, etc., etc. ... If all your crew likes another rule system ... then go for it ! I know gents on TMP who use Epic figures with other rules systems. And no visits by Yarrick and is Boys have ever occurred ... :whistle As far as I know ... 8)

Zombo is wise. Not like NetEpic died when EA came out. In fact if that crazy improbable rumor came true, it would just mean you get three games you can play with your armies now.

Then again, given the provenance of the rumour monger.....

Faeit just repeats everything it hears, regardless of veracity or likelihood of coming to fruition. If you have 100 rumours, then statistically some of them might be true.

The only plus side if GW hypothetically ever got back into Epic, would definitely be the ease of getting new players, and possibly getting some nice new minis.

Other than that though, it would be a negative. I won't be losing any sleep on this.

Cheers

James
