If SG does can EA, I can definitely state that I will be active in developing new material.
I don't think it will ever be completely shut down, though. It's just too cheap to maintain the online material (without update) and claim it's "active" even when the reality is it is dead.

If this ever happened, I would CERTAINLY want to be a big part of the continuation of the game in the hands of the fans.

Well I suspect BFG is unofficially dead. The rules haven't seen many updates lately, and the last new releases were for Iyanden. Also kind of ironic, ships from a half dead craftworld being the last releases for a half dead game.

Let's hope the models are still being sold for some time to come. I am dubious as to whether GW would actually make a statement, or whether one day someone will check the SG site to find it gone. Odd since Epic has been around as long as I've had contact with GW, it used to be one of the games they would *always* stock in the stores as well until it got shifted (or shafted perhaps?) into SG. It would be odd to have GW without it, or Jervis and Andy Chambers for that matter...

Well, let's see.... Andy Chambers is gone. I suspect that there will be no "official" statement. I'm sure it will be more like your idea that it will simply disappear from the SG site.

What constitutes "Dead"?
If we await an official statement, we'll never get one.
So what needs to happen to "pronounce" it dead and move to a fan based project?
Primarch |
When Jervis stops trying to influence development of EA... and stops responding to e-mails regarding development of EA. Neither of which has happened at this time.

Primarch: I rather suspect that without a statement from GW many of the fans will simply dangle along until they get fed up, or if the SG site disappears simply not know where to turn and forget about the whole matter. Not officially "killing" Epic will probably do more to kill the reality than a statement declaring Epic over.

Look at the history of Man-O-War if you want a perfect example of death by being ignored.
And Man-O-war *is* a great game.

I kind of got the feeling from reading Andy C's own forum that gothic developement was dead. He was about to start working on v. 2.0 of the game.

Well no matter happens, I'm going to continue to work on my 9+ EPIC Armies and various terrain. If they never release another thing for Epic, I'll still be busy for years !

Sounds like a plan L4, have enough stuff to last for a long time.

Judging by the online store, death will arrive when their stocks are gone. Many SG items are marked low in stock. Netepic, there's a MoW group online too - will try to find their site. Or do you mean the 3 rulebooks?

Most OOP games have a bible now, which contains all the rules, expansions and articles merged into one holy tome.
E40k, 40k 2nd Ed, Necro, Mighty Empires, 40k RPG etc.
