Lets not get into a discussion about which game is 'best'. There are people who have a great time playing a game of Apocalypse. It's not my thing, sure, but those players would probably say that painting 6mm isn't fun for them either.

As I see it, Apocalpse players are painters first. They get these large kits and love putting them together and painting them up. That's great. But the thought remains with them that they are gaming pieces, and so they should be on the table.

My personal opinion is that 40K shouldn't have anything larger than a bike or a dreadnought in it. I am of the belief that a standard game of 40K might just about have room for a tank as a bunker, but should not have transport vehicles or anything of that type, and even tanks would (and should) not be worth the points taking.

However, the popularity of Apocalypse shows that there are many gamers who like it. That's fine. Wouldn't the world be terrible if we all liked the same games?

Most people here would agree that Epic captures large scale games better, but I wouldn't like to see the numbers of EA v Apocalypse players, as we probably wouldn't come out very well in that. If gamers want to play it, I am certainly not going to tell them that they are wrong.

I didn't say it was the end of the hobby. I said it has hit an all time low with uselessness of Apoc.

My point was that the quoted statement seemed to indicate that there was a difference in the scale of the models between Apoc and 40k.

Really? I don't see it at all, not trying to get into an argument, just wondering how I implied that there was a difference between apocalypse and 40k scales! I just meant larger kits in general, as in, big huge tanks to sit on your shelves as display pieces :)

From the Huuiuiiiuuuge numbers of unpainted models you see in most Apoc, I don't think they tend to be 'painters' first.

From the GW World's Faceplant page:
***ATTENTION ALL HOBBY FANS!*** Some , frankly, mental hobbyists are coming up to Warhammer World this weekend to put on what will be the single biggest game of Warhammer 40,000 we have ever seen here. Eighteen players will be bringing almost a quarter of a million (250,000) points worth of miniatures between them, including Titans, Super Heavies and hundreds upon hundreds of troops. If you want to see a truly awe inspiring game in action, head up to Warhammer World this weekend!

They are taking things to a whole new level. The only way this would be fun is if they actually played the game in the GW parking lot. I hope the have reenforced their tables. ???

It sounds more like an exhibition. But hey, if they bring nice models to show off, more power to them.
