My apologies to everyone for not having the Raiders updates completed.  With the long weekends coming up for Christmas and New Year's Day, however, I am hoping to have a lot of the work completed.  Hopefully that work will coincide with E&C's completion of Epic: Siege.

In all fairness, however, I thought I should show you all what caused the delay.  I had made a commitment to build a large fortification by Christmas.  This was a challenge given the amount of time I have at the end of the year, but I began the work in late October nonetheless.

There were strict safety concerns I had to consider as well as functionality, but aesthetics and comfort were important.  The final product is featured below.

It features small but functional windows to balance the ability to see out of the castle with protection from the wild animals and dragons that live in the area.

The crenelated top not only allows you to fire flaming arrows with some safety, but also keeps you from plummeting to your death when you roll around in your sleep.

One of the two people who comissioned the work.  She seemed happy with the exception of the dead chameleons.

The second commissioner seems pleased.

Nice work! :agree:

The pastel rock walls really bring it together.

So, when do you plan on adding the catapults?!

Very cute Bill.  Clearly their mother's genes overcame yours...

Oh and the fortress is nice too.

Any kind of fortress or castle needs to have a rancor pit trap. I think you dropped the ball on that aspect. ;)

Thanks, fellas.  While the catapults and pits were originally drawn into the plans, I realized that the position of the bed made those things a bad idea.  The catapult would have launched things at the windows and the pit would have either dropped the kids onto our wood stove or onto the television set (it's a toss up as to which would be worse).

--

I'll share something funny with all of you that my kids and wife have NO clue about.  I actually wrote two hidden messages in plain sight on the castle.  You can see one from the first photo of the completed bed.  I don't plan on telling them either - they have to figure it out themselves.  Although it was too much fun to not tell anybody.  I was inspired by a recent piece of art I saw on the internet and decided to try it out.

See if you can find the message.

That's really a pretty sweet project & the satisfaction by the "commissioners" is quite obvious. Kudos to you for being a super dad!  :sign1:

I just realized nobody is going to get this without the context of my family.  Black Legion just guessed "Badass Bears" which -although it is very wrong- can definitely be seen in the stones.

My girls' names are Samantha and Rebecca (a.k.a. Sam & Becky).

See below.
